Riftbound release date guide: Every set so far and what comes next

The next Riftbound release date is October 23, 2026, when Riftbound: Radiance launches in English, Chinese, and French. Radiance Pre-Rift runs from October 16-22, 2026. After that, Riftbound: Legacy releases January 29, 2027, followed by Riftbound: The Reckoning on April 30, 2027.

Riftbound first released in China on August 1, 2025, before its English launch on October 31, 2025 with Riftbound: Origins. The first three sets used staggered Chinese and English release dates, but that changed with Vendetta on July 31, 2026, when the two schedules finally synchronized.

Origins, Spiritforged, Unleashed, and Vendetta are all currently available in English. Vendetta is the newest released main set, Radiance is next, and Riot has already outlined the main booster-set roadmap through the end of 2027.

Riftbound release schedule at a glance

If you only want the dates, this is the current Riftbound release schedule. The first three sets launched in China before English regions. Vendetta brought English and Chinese releases together, while French reaches current-set parity with Radiance.

The short version is simple: Vendetta is available now, Radiance releases October 23, 2026, Legacy follows January 29, 2027, and The Reckoning arrives April 30, 2027. Sets 8 and 9 are confirmed for later in 2027, but Riot has not announced exact dates for them yet.

The biggest change compared with Riftbound's first year is that the main release calendar is becoming much easier to follow. English and Chinese releases have been synchronized since Vendetta, and French catches up with Radiance. Riot has also given players a much earlier look at 2027 than it did during Riftbound's launch year.

Riftbound: Radiance is the next set – October 23, 2026

Riftbound: Radiance releases October 23, 2026, making it the next main Riftbound set. Radiance Pre-Rift runs from October 16-22, one week before the full launch.

Preview season kicks off during the Los Angeles Regional Qualifier on September 25-27. Riot's August product announcement says previews will then continue through October 9; its newer roadmap notes that the exact kickoff timing during the Los Angeles weekend is still being finalized.

Radiance contains 180 cards, including 66 Showcase cards, and uses the set code RAD. Riot describes its theme around performing at the highest level when the lights are brightest and everything is on the line.

Five of the set's nine new Legends are already confirmed: Seraphine, Ziggs, Jarvan IV, Ekko, and Evelynn. The other four are being saved for preview season.

The product lineup includes booster packs and displays, a Seraphine vs. Evelynn Showdown Deck, a Vault Bundle, and Pre-Rift kits.

Collectors have another reason to pay attention. Riot has confirmed that Radiance contains a new Ultimate Rare. The rarity debuted in Unleashed with Baron Nashor, and Riot has said Ultimate Rares will not necessarily appear in every set.

Radiance is also important for localization. It launches in English, Chinese, and French on the same day, bringing French up to the current main-set schedule.

Upcoming Riftbound releases after Radiance

Riot has already confirmed four main booster sets for 2027. Legacy and The Reckoning have exact release dates, while Sets 8 and 9 currently have quarterly windows. A second edition of Proving Grounds also arrives between the first two 2027 sets.

Riftbound: Legacy release date – January 29, 2027

Riftbound: Legacy releases January 29, 2027. It is Set 6, with Pre-Rift running from January 22-28.

Legacy is substantially larger than Radiance, with 346 cards, including 93 Showcase cards. Its set code is LGC.

The set focuses on representing the identity of League regions through their champions and mechanics. Riot specifically calls out Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover/Zaun, Freljord, and Bilgewater.

Eight new Legends are confirmed so far: Ashe, Garen, Heimerdinger, Illaoi, Karma, Lux, Tryndamere, and Vladimir. Four additional Legends are still unrevealed.

Legacy's products include booster packs and displays, a Vault Bundle, Pre-Rift kits, and four Champion Decks for Tryndamere, Ashe, Lux, and Garen. Riot says those four decks are also designed to combine particularly well for 2v2 play.

Legacy changes Riftbound booster packs

Starting with Legacy, booster packs receive a notable structural change. One Common slot is being replaced by a dedicated Legend or Battlefield slot, with each appearing at roughly a 50/50 rate.

That means Legacy and later sets will contain six Common cards instead of seven. The idea is to keep Legends accessible without letting a normal Legend take up one of the more exciting higher-rarity slots. Showcase versions of Legends and Battlefields still use the Overnumber slots rather than the new dedicated Legend/Battlefield slot.

Legacy is designed around Draft

Legacy is also the first Riftbound set that Riot describes as being built for Draft from the start. Earlier sets could be drafted, but Draft was not a central part of their original card-file design.

The set uses lower-rarity signpost cards and mechanics designed to make Limited strategies easier to identify. Rune Kits are also being updated with a new Minion unit that drafters can use when they need help filling out a deck.

Legacy also updates Riftbound card templating

Set 6 introduces visual and wording improvements intended to make cards easier to parse. Targets receive clearer highlighting, triggered abilities use an arrow to separate the trigger from the effect, and Riot is reducing how many different jobs the word "play" has to perform in rules text.

Legacy will also include card artwork inspired by League Classic. Riot plans its first Legacy preview beat around Convergence Fest in December, followed by more previews in January.

Proving Grounds, 2nd Edition – February 19, 2027

Proving Grounds, 2nd Edition releases February 19, 2027, a few weeks after Legacy. It is not Set 7; it is an updated version of Riftbound's beginner-friendly boxed product.

The box contains four Champion decks featuring Heimerdinger, Karma, Vladimir, and Illaoi, together with four oversized Battlefields, four paper playmats, four Chibi score trackers, and a rulebook.

The product code is PG2, Riot lists a price of $40, and versions are planned in English, Chinese, French, and Korean.

Importantly, Riot says Proving Grounds, 2nd Edition will not contain gameplay cards that cannot also be obtained from booster packs. That keeps it an accessible starting product rather than something established players need to buy for exclusive competitive cards.

Riftbound: The Reckoning release date – April 30, 2027

Riftbound: The Reckoning releases April 30, 2027. It is Set 7, with Pre-Rift scheduled for April 23-29.

The Reckoning contains 264 cards, including 67 Showcase cards, and uses the set code REC. Riot's tagline for the set is "Awaken the Ancients," with the theme revolving around dormant behemoths and some of League's biggest champions.

Five of its nine new Legends are already confirmed: Aurelion Sol, Cho'Gath, Shyvana, Vayne, and Zilean. Four more remain unrevealed.

The currently announced products are booster packs and displays, Champion Decks for Shyvana and Vayne, a Vault Bundle, and Pre-Rift kits.

Riftbound Set 8 release window – Q3 2027

Riftbound Set 8 is scheduled for Q3 2027. Riot has not yet locked or publicly announced its final name.

The setting is confirmed, though: Set 8 takes Riftbound to Bandle City. Riot describes the expansion as leaning into the region's whimsical, magical, and mischievous identity.

The team has shared early concept artwork from the set's development, but specifically warns that those concepts are exploratory and will not necessarily appear on finished cards.

There is currently no exact release date, Pre-Rift window, final name, card count, product lineup, or confirmed Legend list for Set 8.

Riftbound Set 9 release window – Q4 2027

Riftbound Set 9 is scheduled for Q4 2027 and is currently the final main booster set on Riot's announced 2027 roadmap.

Riot has intentionally revealed very little about it. The name, exact release date, Legends, mechanics, card count, and products are all still unannounced.

The reveal uses conspicuous wording around "Shadow" and "Isle" alongside teaser imagery, which appears to point toward the Shadow Isles. That is a deliberate tease, but Riot has not officially confirmed Set 9 as a Shadow Isles set, so it is better treated as a clue rather than a confirmed theme.

Riot's official 2027 set announcement is the best source for all of these currently revealed details.

Past Riftbound set releases

Four main Riftbound sets have already released in English. For release-date purposes, it makes the most sense to look at them in reverse chronological order, starting with the newest.

Vendetta – July 31, 2026

Riftbound: Vendetta released July 31, 2026 in English and Chinese. It was the fourth main set and the first time those two versions of Riftbound launched simultaneously.

Vendetta revolves around rivalries from the League universe, including relationships such as Shen and Zed or Mel and Ambessa. It introduced several new mechanics: Flow lets certain cards be played from the trash, Burn sends cards from a Main Deck to the trash, and Empower allows cards to gain additional abilities after being upgraded.

The set also added Unit-Gear cards that count as both a unit and gear, plus Decrees built around opposing Domain colors and new Tentacle, Shadow Clone, and Empowered tokens.

Collectors got Crystal Rose alternate-art cards based on Wild Rift, nine new Legend Overnumbers, and 22 Rival Overnumbers designed as diptychs representing famous relationships and rivalries.

Vendetta also introduced Showdown Decks. The first product pairs ready-to-play Shen and Zed decks in one box, giving two players a straightforward entry into the set.

Unleashed – May 8, 2026

Riftbound: Unleashed released in China on April 10, 2026 and in English on May 8, 2026. English Pre-Rift ran from May 1-7. It was the final main set to reach China before English regions.

Unleashed introduced XP, along with mechanics such as Hunt and Ambush. It also debuted The Vault, a reusable storage product containing six boosters, basic runes, tokens, and dividers.

The set was also home to Riftbound's first Ultimate Rare: a unique overnumbered Baron Nashor. Riot put the appearance rate below 0.1% per booster and made clear that Ultimate Rares would not automatically appear in every future set.

Spiritforged – February 13, 2026

Riftbound: Spiritforged released in China on December 12, 2025 and in English on February 13, 2026. English Pre-Rift events ran from February 6-12.

Spiritforged was the first true expansion after Origins. It introduced Equipment and mechanics including Equip, Quick-Draw, Weaponmaster, and Repeat, while Champion Decks for Fiora and Rumble gave players two new preconstructed options.

Origins – October 31, 2025 in English

Riftbound: Origins was the game's first main set. It launched in China on August 1, 2025, followed by the English release on October 31, 2025.

The English rollout covered North America, EMEA, LATAM, and Oceania. Origins also established Riftbound's original retail lineup with Proving Grounds, Champion Decks for Jinx, Viktor, and Lee Sin, booster packs, and booster displays.

Riftbound release dates by region and language

Riftbound did not begin with one universal worldwide release calendar. Origins, Spiritforged, and Unleashed all reached China before their English versions. Riot deliberately spaced those releases differently so the schedules could eventually meet.

That happened with Vendetta. From Set 4 onward, English and Simplified Chinese main-set releases are synchronized. French catches up with Radiance, while Korean and Traditional Chinese are newer localized versions with their own launch timelines.

This is why older search results can be confusing. A "Riftbound release date" may refer to a Chinese launch, English launch, French localization, Korean localization, or a Pre-Rift event. When dates appear to conflict, check the set, language, region, and event type.

French Riftbound release dates

French Riftbound is using an accelerated release schedule to catch up with English and Chinese. French Origins launched May 29, 2026, followed by Spiritforged and Unleashed on July 24, 2026.

There is one date worth explaining. Riot's original April French roadmap listed July 31 for the Spiritforged and Unleashed catch-up release, but its newer 2026 roadmap moved that launch to July 24. This guide uses the newer date.

Korean Riftbound release date

Korean-language Riftbound: Origins is scheduled for September 2026. Riot has not announced an exact September release date yet.

Korean is Riftbound's next major language rollout, and Proving Grounds, 2nd Edition is already confirmed to receive a Korean version in February 2027. Riot's Korea Enters the Rift announcement is the main first-party source for the launch.

Traditional Chinese Riftbound and Southeast Asia

Traditional Chinese Riftbound is rolling out in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan through Riot's publishing partnership with GLORIOUS SOUL (HK) LIMITED. English product remains available alongside the localized cards in those markets.

The Traditional Chinese edition of Origins launched in August 2026. Riot has also said it plans to pause further language announcements in the short term while Korean and Traditional Chinese get established.

English Riftbound distribution has also expanded across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Origins and Spiritforged arrived first, with Unleashed following from late May 2026.

Pre-Rift vs. the full Riftbound release date

Pre-Rift is Riftbound's prerelease event window; the release date is the full retail launch. They are connected, but they are not the same thing.

At a Pre-Rift, participating local game stores receive kits that let players open the upcoming set, build a Sealed deck, and play with the cards before normal release. That is why you may see cards appearing online several days before the date printed on the main release schedule.

Vendetta is a good example. Its Pre-Rift window began on July 24, while the full English and Chinese release was July 31. Radiance follows the same pattern: Pre-Rift runs October 16-22 and the set officially releases October 23.

The structure continues in 2027. Legacy Pre-Rift is January 22-28 before its January 29 launch, while The Reckoning runs Pre-Rift from April 23-29 before releasing April 30.

Other Riftbound product release dates

Not every new Riftbound box is a new numbered set. Riot separates its lineup into main booster sets, ancillary products aimed at specific types of players, and limited collector products.

That distinction is useful when following release news. Riot has said that mechanically new Riftbound cards will continue to be available through booster sets rather than being locked exclusively inside ancillary or collector products.

Gift of the Rift Bundle – December 4, 2026

Gift of the Rift releases December 4, 2026 through local game stores and mass retailers. It celebrates Riftbound's first year rather than acting as a sixth booster set.

The English bundle includes 16 booster packs: three each from Origins, Spiritforged, Unleashed, and Vendetta, plus four Radiance packs. It also contains 36 foil basic Runes, an alternate-art Akali promo, 100 matching sleeves, and a storage box designed for roughly 2,000 cards.

A Chinese-language version is also planned, with its own exclusive Kennen promo replacing the English Akali.

Secret Garden

Secret Garden is an event-focused Unleashed collector product rather than a normal retail booster set. It contains alternate-art versions of Lillia, Bashful Bloom; Ivern, Green Father; and Ultrasoft Poro, along with five alternate-art double-sided tokens, sleeves, postcards, and three Unleashed boosters.

Instead of one universal retail date, Riot has been making Secret Garden available at selected events such as Gen Con, Regional Qualifiers, and PAX events.

Riftbound x T1 2025 Worlds Champion Collection

The Riftbound x T1 2025 Worlds Champion Collection is another collector line rather than a numbered set. It comes in a premium Signature Edition and a more accessible Player Bundle.

The English T1 2025 Worlds Champion Signature Edition drawing ran from August 14-17, 2026, with selected-player emails beginning August 20. The product contains Riftbound's first serialized cards and commemorates T1's 2025 League of Legends World Championship victory.

The separate T1 Worlds Champion Player Bundle is planned for an English Riot Merch Store drawing in October 2026.

One of the included cards is Seraphine, Not Alone from Radiance. Even though a collector version can appear before the set launches, Riot specifically notes that the card is not legal for Riftbound play until Radiance releases.

This is a useful rule of thumb: collector products, restocks, promotional bundles, and Merch Store drawings do not create a new main Riftbound set release date.

How the Riftbound release cycle works

How many Riftbound sets release each year?

Riot's current model is four Standard-legal main booster sets per calendar year after Origins. In 2026, those sets are Spiritforged, Unleashed, Vendetta, and Radiance. In 2027, the lineup is Legacy, The Reckoning, Set 8, and Set 9.

That gives Riftbound a roughly quarterly main-set cadence, although exact dates do not have to fall at identical three-month intervals.

When does Riftbound Standard rotation begin?

Riot plans the first Riftbound Standard rotation for the beginning of 2028 when Set 10 releases. At that point, Sets 1-5 leave Standard: Origins, Spiritforged, Unleashed, Vendetta, and Radiance.

Sets 6-9 are then planned to rotate at the beginning of 2029 when Set 14 arrives. Riot also intends to support an additional format where players can continue using cards that have rotated out of Standard.

How releases connect to Organized Play in 2027

New set releases also anchor Riftbound's competitive calendar. Riot is restructuring Organized Play in 2027, with Nexus Cups joining local play, Riftbound Challenge Series replacing Summoner Skirmish, Regional Qualifiers becoming Riftbound Regionals, and Regional Championships evolving into Riftbound Continentals.

Riot plans a Continental around each main set, so release timing matters for competitive players who need to follow preview season, deck testing, new rules, and metagame development.

The safest place to confirm a date is the official Riftbound website. Riot publishes set announcements, roadmaps, localization news, product information, rules updates, and Organized Play changes there.

For the current future schedule, the two most important first-party pages are Riot's Products and Sets into 2027 article and the newer August 2026 roadmap.

The official Riftbound card gallery is useful once preview season starts, while the Rules Hub is the best place to check current rules, errata, and tournament documents.

• Check the set name, not just the month.
• Separate Pre-Rift from the full retail release.
• Check which language or region the date refers to.
• Prefer Riot's newest roadmap when an older announcement lists a different date.
• Use your local game store for exact event times and local product availability.
• Do not confuse collector products, restocks, or Merch Store drawings with new booster sets.

What to do before the next Riftbound release

How you prepare for Radiance depends on what you want from Riftbound. A new player does not need to follow the same checklist as someone preparing for competitive events or collecting Showcase cards.

• New player: Start with Proving Grounds, a Champion Deck, or a Showdown Deck and learn the game before buying large amounts of sealed product.
• Collector: Follow the official card gallery, Showcase reveals, Ultimate Rare news, and complete product lineup before deciding what to open or keep sealed.
• Local store player: Follow your store's Radiance Pre-Rift and weekly-event calendar rather than relying only on the worldwide release date.
• Competitive player: Watch preview season, rules updates, ban-list changes, and the first tournament results after the new set becomes legal.
• League fan: Follow the new Legend lineup and choose sets around the champions, regions, stories, or rivalries you care about most.
