Guess the Chest: a League of Legends champion quiz

Guess the Chest challenges you to identify League of Legends champions from cropped outfit and armour details. Study the picture, pick your champion and see how little of the artwork you need. You have five guesses, and each wrong answer reveals a wider view.

How Guess the Chest works

You might recognise a champion instantly from their face, weapon or silhouette. Take those clues away, and even a character you play regularly can become surprisingly difficult to identify.

Guess the Chest focuses on a small section of a champion’s chest-area outfit or armour. Look for familiar shapes, colours, fabric patterns and decorative details. Each incorrect answer widens the crop, revealing more of the surrounding artwork.

The puzzle includes a mix of champion designs, from clothing and accessories to heavy armour. You are guessing the champion, not the name of a skin.

How to play Guess the Chest

1. Examine the starting crop. Look for a recognisable armour plate, outfit shape, emblem or decorative detail.
2. Choose your champion. Enter a champion name, select the matching suggestion and submit your guess.
3. Study the wider picture after a miss. An incorrect answer reveals more of the artwork, giving you additional clues.
4. Use the new information. Reconsider your options and identify the champion within five guesses.
5. Share your result. Once the round ends, challenge a friend to beat your score without revealing the answer.

Unlike Rift Reveal, you do not choose individual tiles to open. The crop widens automatically after a wrong answer, so each guess is a decision about whether you have enough information.

Guess the Chest scoring

Your score depends on how many guesses you need. Identify the champion from the starting crop for the full 100 points, or use the wider clues to solve the puzzle on a later attempt.

There is no speed bonus. Take time to inspect the details before submitting an answer. A correct third guess earns 60 points whether you recognise the champion immediately after the crop widens or need a moment to think.

Tips for recognising the champion

Look at shapes before colours

Several champions can share a similar colour palette. The outline of an armour plate, the shape of a collar or an unusual fastening may be more distinctive than a large patch of blue or gold.

Follow the detail into the wider crop

When more of the image appears, check how the original clue connects to the surrounding design. A shape that looked like metal might turn out to be fabric, while a small decorative edge could become a recognisable emblem.

Keep more than one possibility in mind

Before submitting, consider what separates your first choice from another plausible champion. If your guess is wrong, that comparison gives you a useful starting point for the next attempt.

Be willing to change your mind

A wider view can contradict your first impression. Use the new information rather than trying to make every detail fit your original guess.

A daily bonus with its own score

Guess the Chest is an optional bonus in RiftDaily Arcade. Its score is separate from the main daily total of 300, and you do not need to finish it to complete your daily streak.

The main challenge consists of Rift Reveal, Item Forge and Kit Shuffle. Guess the Chest gives you another way to test your champion knowledge after those rounds, or whenever you feel like a visual puzzle.

A new daily puzzle becomes available at 00:00 UTC. Everyone receives the same scheduled challenge for that date, making it easy to compare scores with friends.

Frequently asked questions about Guess the Chest

Is Guess the Chest free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is free to play in your browser. You do not need to create an account, connect your Riot account or download an app.

Am I guessing the champion or the skin?

Guess the champion shown in the artwork. You do not need to identify the skin name or know when a particular cosmetic was released.

What kinds of champion details appear in the puzzle?

The clues show cropped chest-area clothing, accessories and armour from a mix of champions. The game is not limited to female champions or one type of outfit.

Can I reveal more of the picture without using a guess?

No. There is no separate reveal button in this mode. The picture widens after an incorrect answer, giving you more context for your next guess. You have five guesses in total.

What happens if I lose, and does it affect my daily streak?

After five incorrect guesses, the round ends, the answer is revealed and you score zero. Giving up has the same scoring outcome. This bonus does not affect your main daily score or completion streak, which are based on Rift Reveal, Item Forge and Kit Shuffle.

When does the puzzle reset, and can I play more than once?

The daily puzzle resets at 00:00 UTC. Your completed daily result is saved, so replaying does not provide a new scored daily challenge. Select Practice for past challenges when they are available. Practice does not change your daily result.

Will my progress be saved if I leave the page?

Your session is saved when browser storage is available. Return in the same browser to continue while the session remains available. Progress does not automatically sync across devices, and clearing browser storage or closing a private browsing session can remove it.

Can I share my score without revealing the answer?

Yes. Use Share result after the round to share your score and a challenge link. The shared result does not include the champion’s name.
