Recognising a finished item is one thing. Remembering its components is another, especially when it belongs to a role or champion you rarely play.

Item Forge shows you a target item and part of its recipe. One direct component is missing. Your job is to select it from six options, using the visible ingredients and your knowledge of the shop.

The question is about the item’s recipe. It does not ask which purchase is strongest for a champion or what you should build next in a match.

How to play Item Forge

1. Check the target item. Make sure you recognise which item the recipe is building towards.
2. Inspect the visible components. Note what is already included and where an ingredient is missing.
3. Compare the six choices. Select the component that completes the displayed recipe.
4. Use the feedback. If your answer is incorrect, reconsider the remaining choices before trying again.

You have three attempts. The round ends when you find the correct component, use all three attempts or give up.

Understand which recipe component is missing

A direct component belongs to the immediate recipe shown for the target item. It is not necessarily one of the basic items further down the build path.

For example, a target item might require an intermediate component that has its own recipe. In that situation, you need the intermediate component at the target item’s recipe level, rather than one of the smaller ingredients used to make it.

A recipe can also require more than one copy of a component. Seeing an item already included does not necessarily rule out another copy as the missing ingredient.

Item Forge scoring

There is no speed bonus. Take a moment to inspect the entire recipe before choosing, particularly when two components seem familiar.

Check the patch before questioning the recipe

Item recipes can change between League of Legends patches. Item Forge displays the data snapshot used for the puzzle, and scheduled questions retain that version.

If you remember a different build path, check the displayed patch. An older puzzle may use a recipe that differs from the current live game.

Make each guess count

Read the visible recipe first. The components already shown are clues. Do not focus so closely on the finished item’s icon that you overlook them.

Separate recognition from recall. A component can look appropriate without belonging to that particular recipe. Ask yourself whether you remember the build path or simply associate the items.

Review the answer after the round. Compare the correct component with the one you expected. Noticing that difference helps you remember the recipe next time.

How many choices and attempts do I get?

Each puzzle has six answer options. You have three attempts to choose the correct component.

What does “direct component” mean?

It means an ingredient at the immediate level of the displayed recipe. If that ingredient has its own recipe, you do not need to break it down into smaller items.

Does Item Forge always use the latest live patch?

No. Answer according to the data snapshot displayed in the puzzle. Scheduled and archived challenges retain their original recipes.

What happens if I use all my attempts?

The round ends, the correct answer is shown and you score zero. The finished round still counts towards daily completion. Giving up has the same scoring outcome.

Can I leave the page and finish the quiz later?

Your session is saved when browser storage is available. Return using the same browser to continue while the saved session remains available. Progress does not automatically sync across devices.

When does the item quiz reset, and can I practise afterwards?

The daily puzzle resets at 00:00 UTC, and everyone receives the same scheduled recipe for that date. Select Practice for additional puzzles when available. Practice does not change your daily result or streak.

How do I report an incorrect item recipe?

Check the displayed patch first, then use “Report a puzzle issue” beneath the game. Include the target item and explain which component appears incorrect for that version.
