Editorial policy

Last reviewed: October 29, 2026

RiftDaily is an independent publication covering League of Legends, esports, and the wider League universe, including Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, 2XKO, and Riftbound. This editorial policy explains how we approach accuracy, sources, original reporting, corrections, editorial independence, and the use of AI and other tools.

Our aim is to help readers understand what happened, what is confirmed, and why it matters. These standards apply to our news coverage, interviews, patch notes, guides, analysis, and other editorial content.

Our editorial mission

RiftDaily reports on the games, competitions, people, and communities surrounding League of Legends. We aim to make important developments clear and useful, whether that means explaining the practical impact of a balance patch, providing context for an esports result, or examining the evidence behind an upcoming-content rumor.

We value original reporting, accurate explanations, and information readers can trace back to its source. Different stories require different levels of detail, but they should all distinguish established facts from interpretation or speculation. More about our publication is available on our About RiftDaily page.

Accuracy and verification

Getting the facts right matters more than being first. Before publishing, we aim to check significant factual claims against the most relevant and reliable evidence available. The level of verification depends on the nature of the story and the consequences of getting it wrong.

What we check

  • Game updates: Patch versions, champion and item changes, release timing, regional differences, and whether a change is live, announced, or still being tested.
  • Esports: Match scores, schedules, tournament formats, standings, roster moves, and statements from teams or competition organizers.
  • Upcoming content: Whether a date, price, feature, skin, card, or game mode has been officially confirmed or remains uncertain.
  • Quotes and claims: The original wording and context of relevant statements, including interviews, developer posts, and broadcasts.

A straightforward report about an official announcement may rely on that primary source. Disputed allegations, anonymous tips, and claims without direct documentation require closer scrutiny. We avoid presenting estimates, assumptions, or predictions as established facts.

Sources and attribution

We prefer primary sources when they are available, including Riot Games announcements, official patch notes, game clients, LoL Esports, tournament organizers, team statements, and direct interviews. We also consult credible independent reporting and community sources when they contribute relevant information.

We aim to identify the origin of important claims and link to original material where practical. If another publication breaks a story, we credit that reporting rather than imply it is our exclusive work. We do not invent sources, quotations, interviews, or firsthand experiences.

Information from anonymous sources is assessed with particular care. We consider how the source could know the information, their credibility and possible motives, and whether the claims can be corroborated. We do not treat anonymity as evidence of accuracy.

Leaks, rumors, PBE, and datamining

Leaks and early information are part of gaming news, but they should never be confused with a confirmed announcement. Our reporting aims to make the status of such information clear:

  • Confirmed: Supported by an official announcement or another authoritative, verifiable primary source.
  • Reported but unconfirmed: Attributed to a source or publication, without official or independent confirmation of the claim.
  • Rumored or speculative: Based on incomplete, disputed, or limited evidence; not presented as fact.
  • PBE or test-server content: Seen in a testing environment and subject to change before, or instead of, a live release.
  • Datamined content: Found in game files or related data; not proof that a feature will launch or that a proposed price or release date is final.

We consider the provenance and context of screenshots, social posts, files, and video clips, including the possibility that material has been altered or taken out of context. A source's history of correct predictions can inform our assessment, but does not make a new rumor true. When new evidence changes the status of a claim, we aim to make that development clear to readers.

Esports reporting and interviews

Our competitive coverage draws on official results, tournament information, broadcasts, team and player statements, and direct reporting. We aim to distinguish verifiable outcomes from our analysis of drafts, strategies, performances, and roster decisions.

RiftDaily also publishes original interviews. We do not fabricate conversations or attribute words to someone who did not say them. Quotations should retain their meaning and relevant context; translations and paraphrases should not change the substance of a statement.

When reporting serious allegations or disputed claims about a player, team, organizer, or other identifiable party, we assess the available evidence and seek an appropriate response when reasonably possible. An allegation is not treated as a finding of fact.

Guides, analysis, and ongoing coverage

Guides and reference articles should help readers take practical action or understand a subject more clearly. We aim to explain relevant game versions, platforms, regions, and other limitations when they affect the accuracy of advice.

Live-service games evolve. Builds, systems, rewards, schedules, and troubleshooting steps can change after publication. We review and update important information when meaningful changes come to our attention, although we cannot guarantee that every older guide will reflect the latest patch at all times.

Rankings, predictions, tier lists, and strategic assessments include editorial judgment. We aim to make their basis understandable and not describe subjective recommendations as universally correct. We do not claim to have personally tested a product, feature, or method unless that testing took place.

Authorship and editorial responsibility

Articles should identify their author or responsible editorial account accurately. Named contributors are associated with their own published work, while some site-wide coverage appears under the RiftDaily Admin account. That account represents the publication's editorial identity, not a fictional individual.

We aim to review submissions for factual accuracy, clarity, attribution, relevance, and potential conflicts of interest. External contributions are subject to the same editorial expectations as other material. RiftDaily remains responsible for what it publishes, including content prepared with assistance from automated tools.

AI and editorial tools

RiftDaily may use AI-assisted or automated tools to help organize research, transcribe or translate material, develop drafts, check language, or format articles. These tools support editorial work; they are not treated as independent evidence that a claim is true.

Because AI systems can produce incorrect information, fabricated citations, or misleading summaries, material factual statements, statistics, dates, and quotations must be checked against reliable sources before publication. We do not knowingly publish invented sources, fabricated interviews, or imaginary firsthand experiences.

Editorial responsibility remains with RiftDaily. Where synthetic media or substantial automation would materially change how readers understand a piece of content, we aim to explain its use or identify it appropriately.

Corrections, clarifications, and updates

We take credible reports of errors seriously. When we identify a factual mistake, we aim to correct it as soon as reasonably practicable. Significant corrections that change a reader's understanding of an article should be accompanied by a visible correction or clarification note explaining the change. Routine spelling, grammar, or formatting fixes may be made without a separate notice.

We also update developing stories when new information becomes available, such as revised patch notes, corrected match results, or official confirmation of a previously reported rumor. A later development is not necessarily an error in the original article, and we aim to distinguish the two.

Publication and update dates should accurately describe when content was published or meaningfully revised. We do not change dates solely to make older articles appear fresh.

To request a correction, email contact@riftdaily.com with the article URL, the statement in question, and any supporting sources or evidence.

Editorial independence and conflicts of interest

RiftDaily is independently operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Riot Games. Our coverage and opinions are our own.

We aim to select independent editorial topics according to reader relevance and news value, not the preferences of advertisers, sponsors, affiliate partners, or other commercial parties. Contributors should disclose material interests that could affect their coverage, and relevant conflicts should be made clear to readers.

Providing information, interview access, review materials, or other assistance does not automatically entitle a source to favorable reporting or control over an editorial conclusion.

Advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate links

Advertising, sponsorships, and affiliate relationships may help fund RiftDaily, but commercial content must remain distinguishable from independent editorial coverage.

  • Sponsored content: Paid promotional articles or partnerships are clearly identified as commercial material, rather than presented as independent reporting.
  • Affiliate links: Where relevant, we disclose relationships through which RiftDaily may earn a commission or other benefit.
  • Paid links: Commercial link placements are handled using appropriate disclosures and link attributes.
  • Editorial standards: Commercial contributions are assessed for relevance, accuracy, and suitability for our readers. Payment does not guarantee a positive editorial conclusion.

Advertising and affiliate relationships should not determine the outcome of independent reviews, analysis, or news reporting.

Images, video, and intellectual property

Images, screenshots, videos, charts, and embedded media can help explain a story, but they should not misrepresent the underlying facts. We aim to identify relevant sources and observe applicable permissions, licenses, and intellectual property rights.

Concept art, fan creations, test-build screenshots, edited images, and AI-generated illustrations should not be presented as official or authentic documentary material when doing so would mislead readers. Game titles, artwork, characters, logos, and other trademarks belong to their respective rights holders.

Fairness, privacy, and responsible reporting

We aim to separate fact from opinion, avoid misleading headlines, and provide enough context to represent a story fairly. This includes avoiding selective quotations or omissions that substantially distort a statement or event.

We consider the privacy and potential harm associated with publishing personal information, allegations, private communications, or sensitive material. The fact that information circulates online does not automatically make every detail necessary or appropriate to republish.

Contact and policy reviews

Readers can send story tips, source material, questions about our standards, and correction requests through our contact page or by email at contact@riftdaily.com. Including the relevant article URL and supporting details helps us assess a request.

We review this policy as our editorial practices evolve. When we make meaningful changes to it, we update the review date shown at the top of the page.
