TFT patch 18.3 notes: Wolf Bros return, reroll buffs, Wisp nerfs, and more

by Majbritt Dybdal Bjerre | Sep 23, 2026 | TFT, News, Patch Notes, Updates

TFT patch 18.3 is here, bringing a focused balance update to Enchanted Wilds. Rather than making huge changes across the entire set, Riot is targeting specific power ceilings while bringing up weaker champions, traits, and combat Augments.

The biggest focus of TFT patch 18.3 is giving struggling reroll compositions another chance. Warwick and Murkwolf are receiving buffs aimed at bringing the Wolf Bros back as a Level 6 reroll option, while Karma, Gromp, Alistar, Cassiopeia, Rammus, and Azir are also getting direct buffs.

At the same time, several high-end trait breakpoints and Wisps are being toned down. Riot is also giving combat Augments a broad round of buffs after economy-focused options became increasingly attractive this set.

Alongside the balance changes, patch 18.3 notes contain a large number of gameplay, performance, and stability fixes, including a fix for missing PvE encounters and an issue that could cause players to select an incorrect Augment.

TFT Patch 18.3 Rundown

Riot's TFT Patch 18.3 Rundown explains the thinking behind the changes, including the push for more early-game diversity and the return of weaker reroll options.

Trait changes in TFT patch 18.3

Several traits are being adjusted in TFT patch 18.3. Riot is mainly targeting the strongest trait breakpoints, particularly where Emblems can create an unusually large amount of additional power.

Blossom

Blossom 3 has been providing too much value through several particularly strong Wisps. Rather than changing the trait itself, Riot is reducing the power of a number of Blossom Charms.

Coven is moving in the opposite direction. Riot believes the trait has not been offering enough reward for its high-risk playstyle, so its Loss Essence generation is being increased.

1-cost champion changes

Three 1-cost champions are changing in TFT patch 18.3: Karma, Ornn and Veigar.

Karma receives a buff across all star levels, with her biggest improvement coming at three stars. Ornn is being slowed down at three stars, while Veigar loses some of his extreme scaling but gains more base spell damage.

2-cost champion changes

The biggest story among the 2-costs is the return of the Wolf Bros. Warwick and Murkwolf are both receiving buffs aimed at making Level 6 reroll a more realistic option again.

Riot also recommends building Warwick around mana regeneration and Attack Speed, while positioning remains especially important for Murkwolf.

3-cost champion changes

Azir, Cassiopeia and Rammus are all getting direct buffs in TFT patch 18.3.

Riot specifically points toward the Defender changes as a reason for buffing Cassiopeia and Rammus directly. The goal is to make them useful in more situations rather than relying on the six-Defender breakpoint for their power.

4-cost champion changes

Lillia receives a stronger heal, while Nidalee gets changes to both her AD and AP forms.

Nidalee's Armor Penetration change is particularly unusual. Riot fixed a bug where she was gaining 60% Armor Penetration instead of the intended 40%, but is now setting the displayed value to 60%, meaning there is no functional change to the Armor Penetration. Her AD ability damage is reduced while her AP third attack is buffed.

5-cost champion changes

Patch 18.3 makes a small number of changes to the five-cost roster. Solar Lux receives more three-star damage, while Taric trades some of his passive shielding for stronger healing.

Augment changes in TFT patch 18.3

Augments are one of the biggest focuses of patch 18.3 notes. Riot says economy Augments have been heavily prioritized this set, leaving combat-focused options struggling to compete.

As a result, many combat Augments are receiving buffs, while a smaller number of particularly strong or problematic options are being nerfed, renamed, restricted, or disabled.

Shimmerscale Essence

Shimmerscale Essence gets an earlier payoff, with its Round Delay reduced from eight to six. However, the first two items are being swapped.

  • First item: Gambler's Blade
  • Second item: Mogul's Mail

Item Extraction

Item Extraction is being brought closer to Replication by reducing its number of extractions from four to three. It now grants an additional Azir, giving the Augment more immediate power.

Verticality

Verticality now requires at least four units of a trait to be offered. This makes the Augment more closely tied to boards that are already committing to a vertical trait.

Wisp changes

Several Wisps are being nerfed in TFT patch 18.3. Riot's main concern is that some Wisps can provide a surprisingly large amount of power without that power being particularly visible to players.

Bug fixes in TFT patch 18.3

Patch 18.3 contains a large number of gameplay bug fixes, including several issues that could directly affect the outcome of a game.

  • Worth The Wait can no longer give the same Champion to multiple players.
  • Craftable and uncraftable Emblems can now be reforged into each other.
  • Getting the Golden Egg from Call to Chaos with a full bench no longer fails to grant the egg.
  • Calculated Loss no longer works on PvE rounds.
  • Money Monsoon no longer triggers on Carousel rounds.
  • Future Focused now grants its rewards on 2-7 instead of 3-1.
  • The Riftbeast selector can now be used in the arrival phase with Omega Riftbeast.
  • Missed Connections no longer grants two Akalis.
  • Rengar's Rival gold-granted tooltip now updates correctly with Heated Rivalry.
  • Uncraftable items no longer have extra blank space underneath their tooltips.
  • Pandora's Bench and Expedition no longer allow units pending transformation to be starred up.
  • Fixed an issue where Pandora's Bench could take and return double the units from the available Champion pool.
  • The Random Item Component icon in the Double Up Gift Armory no longer displays Rabadon's Deathcap.
  • Unit death animations no longer end abruptly after finishing combat.

More gameplay and UI fixes

  • Mobile: Main Menu music no longer continues playing after signing out.
  • Fixed inconsistent progress from the Primal Urge mission.
  • Mobile: Bench units can now be dragged normally while the Augment Armory is open on affected devices.
  • The Ping Latency indicator has been re-added.
  • Fixed Armories overlapping with the Shop after reconnecting.
  • Fixed an issue where Units dragged above the XP/Reroll UI could fail to sell.
  • Fixed an issue where players could fail to return to their board after disconnecting and reconnecting.
  • Fixed an issue with Champion death animations ending abruptly after combat.

One particularly important fix addresses missing PvE encounters. Riot says the problem had several possible causes, making it difficult to fully eliminate.

What does TFT patch 18.3 change for the meta?

TFT patch 18.3 is less about one huge system rework and more about opening additional paths through the early and mid game.

The clearest example is the Wolf Bros. Warwick and Murkwolf are both getting direct buffs, while Gromp also becomes stronger. Riot is specifically looking to make Level 6 reroll a more attractive option rather than having players rely on a smaller number of established lines.

Karma is another important buff. Her improved three-star damage gives players another potential AP reroll direction, while Alistar, Cassiopeia, Rammus and Azir all receive direct buffs that should give them more opportunities outside of very specific setups.

On the other side, Blossom Wisps, high trait breakpoints, and several Emblems are being trimmed. Veigar and Ornn also lose some of their highest scaling potential, while Nidalee's AD form is being brought down slightly.

Combat Augments are another major part of the update. With several of them receiving buffs, Riot is attempting to make combat power a more meaningful alternative to simply prioritizing economy.
