League of Legends patch 26.20 notes: Worlds buffs, nerfs, skins and Classic changes

by RiftDaily Admin | Oct 10, 2026 | Patch Notes, Featured, News, Updates

League of Legends patch 26.20 is the official Worlds 2026 patch, released on October 7, 2026. It changes 16 champions on Summoner's Rift, adjusts three items, adds five champions to League Classic, and introduces new HEARTSTEEL skins. Riot is also making match replays private and updating ARAM Mayhem, regular ARAM, and Ranked 5s.

The biggest competitive changes target Ambessa, Ashe, K'Sante, and Yunara, four champions Riot considers too reliable in coordinated play. Kindred, Lillia, Kennen, Lucian, and several other struggling picks receive buffs instead. Hextech Rocketbelt trades Ability Haste for stronger active damage, while Experimental Hexplate and Runaan's Hurricane become weaker in specific situations.

There is plenty happening outside the Worlds meta, too. League Classic brings back the original versions of Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma, and Quinn. ARAM Mayhem gets six champion adjustments and six Augment changes, and HEARTSTEEL returns with the Live My Life collection. Below are the exact balance numbers, explanations, champion artwork, and every announced skin and chroma.

What matters most in League of Legends patch 26.20

Riot published the patch notes on October 6, 2026, ahead of the October 7 update. The main objective is to create a healthier competitive environment for Worlds without completely rebuilding the existing meta. That means fairly small numerical changes to some champions, but potentially important consequences for professional drafts.

How the Worlds 2026 meta could change

The defining theme of League of Legends patch 26.20 is reducing consistency rather than removing champions from the meta. Riot is particularly concerned about picks that provide reliable value in coordinated games, even when opponents know exactly what those champions want to do.

Top lane: Less safety for established picks

Ambessa and K'Sante are the clearest examples. Ambessa loses passive damage, particularly when building bonus Attack Damage, while K'Sante becomes less durable during Path Maker and spends more Mana using it. Neither champion loses the mechanics that make them valuable, but both become somewhat easier to punish.

Ranged top laners also have to reconsider Experimental Hexplate. Its ultimate-triggered bonuses become considerably weaker for ranged champions, reducing the power of early all-ins.

Bot lane: Utility and scaling are under scrutiny

Ashe remains an excellent source of slows, vision, and initiation, but her Attack Damage growth is reduced. Yunara loses on-hit damage and can no longer stack the slow from Arc of Judgement with other slows. These changes address two different problems: Ashe contributing too much damage alongside her utility, and Yunara scaling too comfortably into late-game fights.

Lucian, Vayne, and Smolder move in the opposite direction. Lucian gains better AD scaling, Vayne gets a more comfortable early lane, and Smolder receives additional critical-strike damage scaling and ultimate healing. The practical outcome should be a more varied set of marksman options, although team compositions and matchups will still determine their value.

Jungle: Kindred and Lillia become more appealing

Kindred gains more monster damage and a longer Mounting Dread slow, while Lillia can keep opponents asleep for longer at later ultimate ranks. These are meaningful improvements for champions who can contribute damage and utility without becoming traditional frontline junglers.

Riot has avoided giving Kindred a large early-invasion buff. That matters because the champion can become difficult to handle when strong jungle clearing, ranged damage, and early skirmishing all improve at once.

Mid lane: More pressure on early resources

Cassiopeia loses starting Health and Mana after remaining too dominant in early laning. Swain gains Magic Resistance and a stronger Vision of Empire, but loses some Armor. Neeko gets additional crowd control and damage to compensate for Hextech Rocketbelt's reduced Ability Haste.

None of these changes guarantees a particular Worlds draft. The patch creates new incentives, but actual champion priority depends on practice results, team strategy, and the matchups that professional players develop.

All champion buffs and nerfs in League of Legends patch 26.20

The main Summoner's Rift balance pass includes 16 champions. Eleven receive buffs or predominantly positive adjustments, and five are nerfed. Lucian's AD-growth improvement is specifically intended to restore bot lane power lost in the previous patch, while Swain's changes combine a mid-lane buff with a defensive stat trade-off.

Ambessa champion portrait for League of Legends patch 26.20
Ambessa's late-game damage receives a targeted nerf.

Ambessa

Ambessa has remained particularly reliable for experienced players, especially in professional play. Riot is reducing the damage of Drakehound's Step rather than changing her mobility or the overall flow of her kit.

Ambessa Drakehound's Step passive ability icon
Ambessa's passive.

Passive - Drakehound's Step

  • Damage: 5-30 (+25% bonus AD) ⇒ 5-25 (+20% bonus AD).

The lower base damage and bonus AD ratio reduce the payoff from sustained aggression as Ambessa gains items. Her mobility is untouched, but opponents should have a little more room to survive repeated exchanges.

Ashe champion portrait for the patch 26.20 Attack Damage nerf
Ashe loses scaling damage while keeping her utility.

Ashe

Ashe is among the strongest utility marksmen heading into Worlds. Her vision, consistent slowing, and long-range ultimate make her valuable even when other carries offer more raw damage. Riot is lowering her AD growth to create a clearer trade-off.

  • Attack Damage per level: 3.5 ⇒ 3.

At level 18, Ashe has 8.5 less Attack Damage than before, based on the difference across 17 level increases. Her slows, Hawkshot vision, and Enchanted Crystal Arrow remain unchanged, so her role as a utility-focused carry is intact.

Cassiopeia champion portrait for patch 26.20 base Health and Mana nerfs
Cassiopeia starts the game with fewer resources.

Cassiopeia

After receiving wider adjustments in patch 26.18, Cassiopeia is still controlling early lanes more effectively than Riot wants, particularly at high levels of play. Her latest nerf targets starting resources instead of late-game damage ratios.

  • Base Health: 630 ⇒ 610.
  • Base Mana: 480 ⇒ 450.

Losing 20 starting Health and 30 Mana should make early trading and wave management more demanding. Cassiopeia still scales into a dangerous sustained-damage mage, but opponents have more opportunities to pressure her before she completes items.

Diana champion portrait for the Pale Cascade shield buff
Diana's bruiser builds gain a stronger shield.

Diana

Diana's assassin builds have been performing better than her bruiser alternatives. Riot is improving the Health scaling on Pale Cascade to make defensive item purchases more rewarding without directly increasing her burst damage.

Diana Pale Cascade W ability icon
Diana's W shield.

W - Pale Cascade

  • Shield bonus Health ratio: 11% ⇒ 14%.

For example, the scaling contribution from 1,000 bonus Health rises from 110 to 140. That makes the change more valuable for bruiser Diana than for builds prioritizing pure Ability Power and immediate burst.

Kennen champion portrait for the Lightning Rush buff in patch 26.20
Kennen gains Attack Speed at every E rank.

Kennen

Kennen receives more Attack Speed from Lightning Rush. The buff also partly compensates him for Hextech Rocketbelt's reduced Ability Haste, which may affect builds centered on reaching enemy carries with Slicing Maelstrom.

Kennen Lightning Rush E ability icon
Kennen's E ability.

E - Lightning Rush

  • Bonus Attack Speed: 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80% ⇒ 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90%.

The increase is 10 percentage points at every rank. Kennen benefits from stronger follow-up attacks, but players relying on Rocketbelt should still account for that item's weaker cooldown efficiency.

Kindred champion portrait with Lamb's mask and glowing blue eyes
Kindred receives jungle clearing and utility buffs.

Kindred

Kindred is currently weaker than Riot would like, but their potential to dominate early jungle invasions makes direct buffs risky. Instead, League of Legends patch 26.20 improves Wolf's damage against monsters and increases the slowing duration of Mounting Dread.

Kindred Wolf's Frenzy W ability icon
Wolf's Frenzy, W.

W - Wolf's Frenzy

  • Monster damage modifier: 150% ⇒ 165%.
Kindred Mounting Dread E ability icon
Mounting Dread, E.

E - Mounting Dread

  • Slow duration: 1 second ⇒ 1.5 seconds.
  • Small monster targeting: Enabled ⇒ Removed.

The extra half-second of slowing makes it easier to maintain distance or secure the next hit on an escaping opponent. Better monster damage improves clearing, while the targeting adjustment removes an interaction with small jungle monsters.

K'Sante champion portrait for the Path Maker nerf in patch 26.20
K'Sante's W becomes more expensive and less protective.

K'Sante

K'Sante remains a dependable blind pick in coordinated games thanks to his defensive abilities and ability to shift into All Out. Riot is trimming his safety, particularly when experienced players use Path Maker to absorb incoming damage.

K'Sante Path Maker W ability icon
Path Maker, W.

W - Path Maker

  • Mana cost: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 ⇒ 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 / 65.
  • Normal damage reduction: 30% ⇒ 25%.
  • All Out damage reduction: 75% ⇒ 70%.

Both damage-reduction values fall by five percentage points, and every W rank costs five more Mana. K'Sante still has his core crowd control and mobility, but repeated defensive trades become less forgiving.

Lillia champion portrait for the Lilting Lullaby ultimate buff
Lillia's ultimate keeps enemies asleep longer.

Lillia

Riot already tried to improve Lillia in the previous patch, but the results were smaller than expected. This follow-up buff strengthens her ultimate at higher ranks, giving her team more time to capitalize on a successful sleep.

Lillia Lilting Lullaby ultimate ability icon
Lilting Lullaby, R.

R - Lilting Lullaby

  • Sleep duration: 2.5 seconds at every rank ⇒ 2.5 / 2.75 / 3 seconds.

Rank-one Lilting Lullaby is unchanged. At maximum rank, the sleep lasts half a second longer, potentially creating a more reliable window for coordinated teamfight abilities.

Lucian champion portrait for the Attack Damage growth buff
Lucian gains AD growth to support his bot lane performance.

Lucian

Lucian's previous adjustment was supposed to bring his mid and bot lane performance closer together, but it ended up weakening his bot lane results. Riot is compensating with stronger Attack Damage growth.

  • Attack Damage: 60 + 2.5 per level ⇒ 60 + 2.9 per level.

Lucian's starting AD stays at 60, so his level-one damage is unchanged. By level 18, the growth difference adds up to 6.8 AD, strengthening attacks and abilities that scale with Attack Damage.

Mordekaiser champion portrait for the Obliterate and Realm of Death buffs
Mordekaiser gains damage and ultimate availability.

Mordekaiser

Mordekaiser's lengthy ultimate cooldown can leave him struggling to match the pace of other fighters. Riot is reducing that downtime at early ranks and improving Obliterate's damage scaling as the game progresses.

Mordekaiser Obliterate Q ability icon
Obliterate, Q.

Q - Obliterate

  • Damage scaling from champion levels 10-20: +5 per level ⇒ +7 per level.
Mordekaiser Realm of Death ultimate ability icon
Realm of Death, R.

R - Realm of Death

  • Cooldown: 140 / 120 / 100 seconds ⇒ 120 / 110 / 100 seconds.

Realm of Death comes back 20 seconds sooner at rank one and 10 seconds sooner at rank two. The rank-three cooldown remains unchanged, while Obliterate becomes stronger as Mordekaiser gains levels.

Neeko champion portrait for the Tangle-Barbs damage and root buffs
Neeko's root becomes stronger at lower ranks.

Neeko

Hextech Rocketbelt's changes are expected to slightly weaken Neeko, so Riot is giving her more power directly through Tangle-Barbs. The ability deals more damage and applies a longer empowered root before its final rank.

Neeko Tangle-Barbs E ability icon
Tangle-Barbs, E.

E - Tangle-Barbs

  • Base damage: 70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 ⇒ 80 / 115 / 150 / 185 / 220.
  • AP ratio: Remains 65%.
  • Empowered root duration: 1.8 / 2.1 / 2.4 / 2.7 / 3 seconds ⇒ 2 / 2.25 / 2.5 / 2.75 / 3 seconds.

The extra 10 base damage applies at every rank. Root duration is also improved at ranks one through four, making Neeko's early catches more rewarding. Her maximum-rank root duration stays at three seconds.

Smolder champion portrait for the Dragon Practice and ultimate buffs
Smolder gets stronger critical-strike scaling and healing.

Smolder

Smolder has struggled after ranged Black Cleaver changes and shifts in the bot lane meta. Riot wants his full critical-strike build to compete more effectively with bruiser setups, while giving his ultimate more meaningful healing in extended fights.

Smolder Dragon Practice passive ability icon
Dragon Practice, passive.

Passive - Dragon Practice

  • Super Scorcher bonus magic damage: 25-55% of Dragon Practice stacks based on Crit Chance ⇒ 25-60%.
  • Extra Infinity Edge contribution: Up to 9% ⇒ up to 10.5%.
  • Flap Flap Flap bonus magic damage: 8-12.8% of Dragon Practice stacks based on Crit Chance ⇒ 8-14%.
  • Extra Infinity Edge contribution: Up to 1.44% ⇒ up to 1.8%.
Smolder Mmooommmm ultimate ability icon
Mmooommmm!, R.

R - Mmooommmm!

  • Self-healing: 100 / 135 / 170 (+50% bonus AD) (+75% AP) ⇒ 100 / 175 / 250 (+75% bonus AD) (+75% AP).

The passive improves Smolder's damage as he builds critical strike, with additional gains when using Infinity Edge. His ultimate also heals considerably more at ranks two and three, and the bonus AD healing ratio rises from 50% to 75%.

Swain champion portrait for the Vision of Empire and base stat adjustments
Swain shifts toward stronger mid-lane matchups.

Swain

Swain gets a mixed defensive adjustment and a substantial Vision of Empire buff. The intention is to strengthen his mid lane performance while narrowing the gap between his mid and bot lane results.

  • Base Magic Resistance: 31 ⇒ 34.
  • Base Armor: 25 ⇒ 23.
Swain Vision of Empire W ability icon
Vision of Empire, W.

W - Vision of Empire

  • Damage: 70 / 105 / 140 / 175 / 210 (+60% AP) ⇒ 70 / 115 / 160 / 205 / 250 (+60% AP).
  • Cooldown: 22 / 21 / 20 / 19 / 18 seconds ⇒ 20 / 19 / 18 / 17 / 16 seconds.

Swain is now sturdier against magic damage but more vulnerable to physical damage. Vision of Empire becomes available two seconds sooner at every rank and deals more damage after rank one, making it a better tool for controlling space and supporting nearby fights.

Tahm Kench champion portrait for the Tongue Lash healing buff
Tahm Kench receives better healing at higher Q ranks.

Tahm Kench

Recent support item changes left Tahm Kench in an awkward position because his natural Health regeneration is relatively low. Riot is compensating by strengthening the base healing from Tongue Lash.

Tahm Kench Tongue Lash Q ability icon
Tongue Lash, Q.

Q - Tongue Lash

  • Base healing: 10 / 13.75 / 17.5 / 21.25 / 25 ⇒ 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50.

Healing at maximum Q rank doubles from 25 to 50 before other modifiers. Rank one is unchanged, so the benefit increases as Tahm Kench invests additional points into the ability.

Vayne champion portrait for the regeneration and Tumble Mana buffs
Vayne's early lane becomes less Mana-intensive.

Vayne

Vayne has struggled in bot lane, where ranged harassment and difficult early waves can prevent her from reaching the stages of the game where she shines. Riot improves her regeneration and reverses a previous Tumble Mana-cost increase.

  • Health regeneration per 5 seconds: 4 + 0.5 per level ⇒ 5.5 + 0.4 per level.
Vayne Tumble Q ability icon
Tumble, Q.

Q - Tumble

  • Mana cost: 46 / 42 / 38 / 34 / 30 ⇒ 30 at all ranks.

Rank-one Tumble costs 16 less Mana, improving Vayne's ability to reposition, dodge poke, and secure last hits. The regeneration adjustment also favors early levels, helping her survive difficult bot lane matchups without directly increasing her damage.

Yunara champion portrait for the Cultivation of Spirit and Arc of Judgement nerfs
Yunara's damage and combined slow strength are reduced.

Yunara

Yunara has become one of the most reliable late-game scaling options. Riot wants to discourage drafts that comfortably trade farm and reach late game without putting meaningful pressure on opponents.

Yunara Cultivation of Spirit Q ability icon
Cultivation of Spirit, Q.

Q - Cultivation of Spirit

  • Passive on-hit damage: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 (+20% AP) ⇒ 3 / 8 / 13 / 18 / 23 (+20% AP).
  • Active on-hit damage: 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 (+20% AP) ⇒ 3 / 8 / 13 / 18 / 23 (+20% AP).
Yunara Arc of Judgement W ability icon
Arc of Judgement, W.

W - Arc of Judgement

  • Slow stacking: Stacks with other slows ⇒ No longer stacks with other slows.

Both Q damage components lose two points of on-hit damage at every rank, while the W change reduces the effectiveness of layering Yunara's slow with allied slowing effects. She remains a scaling marksman, but her consistent output and crowd-control contribution are both weaker.

Item changes in League of Legends patch 26.20

Three Summoner's Rift items receive direct balance adjustments. Hextech Rocketbelt is the biggest talking point because its strengths are being redistributed rather than simply reduced. Experimental Hexplate is nerfed specifically for ranged champions, while Runaan's Hurricane loses some multi-target damage.

ItemPrevious valueNew valuePractical effect
Experimental Hexplate70% ranged effectiveness50% ranged effectivenessWeaker Attack Speed and Move Speed bonuses for ranged champions.
Hextech Rocketbelt20 Ability Haste; 100 (+10% AP) active damage10 Ability Haste; 135 (+15% AP) active damageStronger active burst, but less cooldown efficiency.
Runaan's Hurricane65% AD per bolt60% AD per boltLower damage against multiple enemies.
Experimental Hexplate League of Legends item icon
Experimental Hexplate's ranged bonuses are reduced.

Experimental Hexplate

Ranged champions have been getting too much value from rushing Experimental Hexplate, particularly in top lane. Its combination of durability, Attack Speed, and Move Speed makes early all-ins difficult to counter.

  • Ranged effectiveness: 70% ⇒ 50%.
  • Ranged Attack Speed bonus: 35% ⇒ 25%.
  • Ranged Move Speed bonus: 14% ⇒ 10%.

Melee champions are not the target of this adjustment. Ranged users will receive noticeably less power from the item's ultimate-triggered bonuses and may need to reconsider buying it as a first major item.

Hextech Rocketbelt League of Legends item icon
Rocketbelt gains active damage but loses Ability Haste.

Hextech Rocketbelt

Rocketbelt is supposed to reward champions who commit to aggressive engagements. In practice, Riot believes the dash has also become too useful as a general-purpose escape tool.

  • Ability Haste: 20 ⇒ 10.
  • Active damage: 100 (+10% AP) ⇒ 135 (+15% AP).

The active gains 35 base damage and five percentage points of AP scaling, but the item loses half its Ability Haste. That makes Rocketbelt more attractive when the extra burst matters and less attractive when frequent spell rotations are the priority.

Kennen and Neeko are receiving direct buffs in the same patch partly to compensate for the change. Still, Rocketbelt's new numbers are worth considering before following an older build automatically.

Runaan's Hurricane League of Legends item icon
Runaan's Hurricane deals less damage through its bolts.

Runaan's Hurricane

Runaan's Hurricane was slightly overbuffed in an earlier update. Riot is scaling back the damage from its additional bolts without removing the item’s identity as a multi-target marksman purchase.

  • Attack Damage per bolt: 65% ⇒ 60%.

Each additional bolt now deals five percentage points less AD-based damage. Champions that rely on Hurricane to damage several opponents at once will feel this most during grouped teamfights.

Scoreboard cleanup hides unnecessary item counters

Recent clarity updates moved various numerical indicators onto item icons, but some of those values cluttered the scoreboard without providing useful strategic information. Riot is hiding those counters from scoreboard icons in League of Legends patch 26.20.

The affected items are:

  • Death's Dance
  • Haunting Guise
  • Liandry's Torment
  • Riftmaker
  • Kraken Slayer
  • Terminus
  • Guinsoo's Rageblade
  • Fiendhunter Bolts
  • Echoes of Helia
  • Dead Man's Plate
  • Spear of Shojin
  • Overlord's Bloodmail
  • Hullbreaker
  • Jak'Sho, the Protean
  • Force of Nature

This is a visual cleanup, not a gameplay nerf to those items. Strategically important counters, including Tear of the Goddess upgrades and Mejai's Soulstealer, remain visible.

Private replays: What changes in patch 26.20?

League of Legends patch 26.20 introduces an important replay privacy restriction: players can only access downloadable replays of matches they participated in. The League client still supports downloading and reviewing your own games.

Riot is making the change to address security vulnerabilities that were being exploited by cheat developers and other creators of unauthorized tools. It is being implemented alongside restrictions on third-party applications accessing game memory.

Replay activityAfter patch 26.20
Download a replay of a match you playedAllowed through the League client.
Review your own game through the in-client replay featureAllowed.
Download a match replay when you were not a participantNo longer allowed.
Third-party sites and applications downloading replay filesDownload access removed.

The distinction matters for players who analyze their own matches, coaches who study other players, and applications that previously retrieved replay data automatically. Your personal match-review workflow can continue inside the League client, but external tools may lose features that depend on replay downloads.

League Classic adds five champions in patch 26.20

League Classic continues bringing historical versions of champions back to the Fields of Justice. This update introduces Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma, and Quinn, each with mechanics based on their earlier appearances in League of Legends.

These additions go beyond cosmetic nostalgia. Original Aatrox could revive through Blood Well, old Irelia gained true damage through Hiten Style, and Quinn could transform into Valor as a melee fighter. Players familiar with the modern versions will find genuine gameplay differences.

Riot also confirms that the League Classic Act II Battle Pass arrives with patch 26.21, not patch 26.20.

Quinn and ValorRanged marksman and melee transformationTag Team swaps Quinn for Valor in combat.
Aatrox champion portrait for his original League Classic release
Classic Aatrox returns with his Blood Well revival mechanic.

Aatrox

Classic Aatrox is an attack-focused fighter who sacrifices his own Health for greater combat power. The original version looks and plays very differently from the modern Darkin Blade.

  • Passive - Blood Well: Basic abilities consume Health to build Blood Well, granting bonus Attack Speed. Aatrox can empty it to revive when he would otherwise die.
  • Q - Dark Flight: Leaps into the air and crashes down, damaging and knocking up enemies in the area.
  • W - Blood Thirst / Blood Price: Toggles between healing on every third attack and dealing additional damage at the cost of Health.
  • E - Blades of Torment: Fires two projectiles that damage and slow enemies.
  • R - Massacre: Damages nearby enemy champions and temporarily increases Attack Speed and attack range.

Managing Blood Well is central to this version of Aatrox. His greatest strength comes from sustained attacking, but careless ability usage can leave him vulnerable.

Caitlyn champion portrait for her original League Classic abilities
Caitlyn returns with her earlier trap and Headshot mechanics.

Caitlyn

Classic Caitlyn uses her 2011-2015 kit. She remains a long-range marksman focused on lane control, but several details differ from her current version.

  • Passive - Headshot: Periodically empowers her next attack. Attacking from brush builds Headshot faster.
  • Q - Piltover Peacemaker: Fires a piercing shot that deals less damage to each subsequent target.
  • W - Yordle Snap Trap: Places traps that root and damage champions. Caitlyn can have up to two active traps.
  • E - 90 Caliber Net: Fires a net that damages and slows the first enemy hit, knocking Caitlyn backward.
  • R - Ace in the Hole: Fires a powerful targeted shot that can be intercepted by another enemy champion.

The two-trap limit is particularly important. Modern Caitlyn players who are accustomed to controlling larger areas with traps will need to be more selective about placement.

Irelia champion portrait for her original League Classic kit
Classic Irelia returns with Hiten Style and Equilibrium Strike.

Irelia

Classic Irelia is based on the version used between 2010 and 2018. This fighter relies on sustained damage, healing, and conditional crowd control rather than modern blade-stacking mechanics.

  • Passive - Ionian Fervor: Gains Tenacity based on the number of nearby visible enemy champions.
  • Q - Bladesurge: Dashes to a target and applies on-hit effects. Killing the target refunds the cooldown and part of the Mana cost.
  • W - Hiten Style: Restores Health on attacks. Activating it adds true damage and stronger healing.
  • E - Equilibrium Strike: Slows a nearby enemy, but stuns them if their percentage Health is higher than Irelia's.
  • R - Transcendent Blades: Fires four blades in succession, dealing damage and healing Irelia.

Equilibrium Strike makes this version especially dangerous when fighting from behind. An opponent with a higher percentage of remaining Health can be stunned instead of merely slowed.

Karma champion portrait for her original League Classic abilities
Original Karma returns as a missing-Health-scaling battlemage.

Karma

Karma's original kit was available for just over two years before her 2013 rework. She plays more like a battlemage, getting stronger as her Health drops and using Mantra to improve her abilities.

  • Passive - Inner Flame: Grants additional Ability Power based on missing Health.
  • Q - Heavenly Wave: Damages enemies in a cone. Empowering it with Mantra also heals allies, including Karma, based on missing Health.
  • W - Spirit Bond: Creates a tether that affects movement speed and damages enemies caught between targets. Mantra doubles the movement-speed effects.
  • E - Soul Shield: Shields a target. Mantra makes the shield damage surrounding enemies.
  • R - Mantra: Available at level one and can hold up to two charges, empowering Karma's next basic ability.

Health management and positioning are essential. Unlike her modern support-focused identity, original Karma rewards staying close to fights and making the most of her missing-Health scaling.

Quinn champion portrait for Quinn and Valor's return to League Classic
Classic Quinn can transform into Valor for melee combat.

Quinn and Valor

Original Quinn returns with her 2013-2015 kit, including a completely different ultimate. Rather than simply gaining out-of-combat travel speed, she can send Valor into battle as a fast melee skirmisher.

  • Passive - Harrier: Valor periodically marks nearby enemies, allowing Quinn to deal bonus damage with attacks.
  • Q - Blinding Assault: Sends Valor forward to damage and blind enemies in an area.
  • W - Heightened Senses: Gives bonus Attack Speed and Move Speed after triggering Harrier, and can reveal a large surrounding area.
  • E - Vault: Dashes to a target before leaping backward, damaging, knocking back, slowing, and marking them.
  • R - Tag Team: Quinn retreats while Valor takes her place with substantial movement and Attack Speed bonuses. Recasting activates Skystrike and returns Quinn to the battlefield.

Tag Team completely changes Quinn's combat pattern. It provides opportunities for aggressive melee finishes, but players must manage when to switch back rather than treating the ultimate purely as a roaming ability.

League Classic balance changes: Fiora, Graves, Fizz, Kennen and Nautilus

The new champions are only part of the Classic update. Riot is also addressing several established picks: Fiora, Graves, and Fizz are overperforming, while Kennen and Nautilus need improvements. These changes apply to League Classic, not modern Summoner's Rift.

Fiora champion portrait for her League Classic Riposte nerf
Classic Fiora loses bonus Attack Damage.

Fiora

Fiora remains the dominant Classic top laner despite earlier nerfs. Riot wants to reduce her overall damage without further weakening the explosive finish provided by her ultimate.

Fiora Riposte W ability icon
Riposte, W.

W - Riposte

  • Bonus Attack Damage: 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 ⇒ 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30.

Fiora loses five bonus AD at every W rank. The nerf reduces her general damage while leaving her ultimate's burst mechanics intact.

Graves champion portrait for League Classic Attack Damage and ultimate nerfs
Classic Graves loses sustained damage and ultimate cone damage.

Graves

Graves has been one of Classic's strongest and most popular champions. Riot wants to retain his close-range burst and tankier marksman identity while reducing the sustained damage that makes him too effective over longer fights.

  • Basic and critical attack animations: Sped up.
  • Base Attack Damage: 54.1 ⇒ 50.
  • Attack Damage per level: 3.1 ⇒ 2.5.
  • Attack Speed per level: 2.9% ⇒ 2.5%.
Graves Collateral Damage ultimate ability icon

R - Collateral Damage

  • Cone damage: 140 / 250 / 360 (+120% bonus AD) ⇒ 140 / 230 / 320 (+100% bonus AD).
  • Projectile damage: Unchanged.

The faster animations should make Graves feel better to play, but he loses damage across basic attacks, scaling, and the ultimate's cone. His projectile's initial damage remains the same.

Fizz champion portrait for League Classic AP scaling nerfs
Classic Fizz's AP burst is reduced.

Fizz

Classic Fizz has been extremely effective as an AP assassin, partly because older items such as Deathfire Grasp and Lich Bane add so much damage to his combinations. Riot is lowering his AP ratios instead of removing the option to play him as a fighter.

Fizz Urchin Strike Q ability icon

Q - Urchin Strike

  • AP ratio: 60% ⇒ 40%.
Fizz Seastone Trident W ability icon

W - Seastone Trident

  • Active AP ratio: 35% ⇒ 20%.

Fizz loses 20 percentage points of AP scaling on Q and 15 percentage points on W's active. The combined reduction makes his guaranteed burst less overwhelming, especially when building large amounts of Ability Power.

Kennen champion portrait for his League Classic Electrical Surge buff
AD Kennen gets additional power in Classic.

Kennen

Classic Kennen has not performed as well as expected, particularly with Attack Damage builds. Riot is changing Electrical Surge to provide more value from bonus AD.

W - Electrical Surge

  • Passive damage: 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80% total AD ⇒ 25 / 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 (+100% bonus AD).

The new flat damage and bonus AD ratio encourage experimentation with AD Kennen. This is separate from his Lightning Rush buff on modern Summoner's Rift.

Nautilus champion portrait for his League Classic buffs and bug fixes
Classic Nautilus gains damage and defensive reliability.

Nautilus

Nautilus has struggled in all three of his main Classic roles: support, jungle, and top lane. Riot is improving Titan's Wrath to help him survive and deal damage in prolonged fights, while also correcting ability bugs.

Passive - Staggering Blow

  • Bug fix: Empowered attacks no longer critically strike for too much damage.

  • Damage over time: 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 (+40% AP) ⇒ 40 / 65 / 90 / 115 / 140 (+40% AP).
  • Shield bonus Health ratio: 10% ⇒ 15%.
  • Shield duration: 9.75 ⇒ 10 seconds.
  • Bug fix: Corrected an issue where the shield was not properly factoring in Armor or Magic Resistance.

Titan's Wrath becomes a more meaningful source of damage and defense, particularly for Nautilus builds that invest in bonus Health. The shield correction is especially important because it addresses an interaction that could undermine his intended durability.

League Classic item buffs and bug fixes

Several Classic tank items have been underperforming because their Health regeneration values are too low. League of Legends patch 26.20 substantially improves three of them and fixes a shop filter issue affecting Banshee's Veil.

Classic itemPrevious valueNew value
Spirit Visage4 Health per 5 seconds20 Health per 5 seconds
Force of Nature20 Health per 5 seconds40 Health per 5 seconds
Warmog's Armor10 Health per 5 seconds30 Health per 5 seconds
Banshee's VeilAbility Power shop filterHealth shop filter

Spirit Visage receives the largest proportional regeneration buff, increasing fivefold. Force of Nature doubles its regeneration, while Warmog's Armor triples its previous value. These changes improve sustain for tanks who need to recover between fights without immediately returning to base.

The Banshee's Veil adjustment only affects how the item appears in the shop. Its combat statistics are not directly changed.

League Classic bug fixes

Riot also fixes several Classic-specific interactions and interface problems. The most important corrections include:

  • Shyvana's Burnout can no longer be cast while the ability is already active.
  • Shyvana's Dragon's Descent correctly interrupts channels.
  • Kayle's Reckoning no longer incorrectly applies on-hit effects.
  • Teemo correctly regains the movement-speed bonus from Move Quick after dying.
  • Sion can no longer lifesteal when attacking enemy Inhibitors.
  • Quicksilver Sash, Mercurial Scimitar, and Gangplank's Remove Scurvy no longer incorrectly grant vision while affected by Graves' Smoke Screen nearsight.
  • Graves' Classic splash art now appears correctly in Collection, loading screens, Honor, progression, and end-of-game displays.
  • Miss Fortune's base splash art no longer incorrectly uses the Classic version.
  • Champion overview role icons now match the listed Classic champion roles.
  • Graves' Classic Changes information and Nautilus' champion title now display correctly.
  • Rune pages no longer overflow or obscure parts of the Rune Editor.
  • Classic summoner spells use their correct sound effects.
  • Text and translation issues are corrected in Fizz's, Pantheon's, and Fiora's Classic descriptions.

ARAM Mayhem champion buffs in League of Legends patch 26.20

ARAM Mayhem gets another round of improvements aimed at making underperforming champions more satisfying to play. Riot is strengthening six champions through mode-specific bonuses rather than changing their standard Summoner's Rift kits.

The focus is on reinforcing what each champion already does well. Bard gets more frequent and powerful Meeps, Garen receives better sustain and durability, Lee Sin gains stronger skirmishing, and Thresh collects souls faster.

Bard champion portrait for ARAM Mayhem Meep buffs
Bard's Meeps recharge faster and hit harder.

Bard

  • Meep AP ratio: 50% ⇒ 67%.
  • Meep recharge: 8 ⇒ 5 seconds.
  • Meep attack damage gained per three chimes: 6 ⇒ 10.

Bard gains more consistent damage as he collects chimes, with stronger AP scaling and much more frequent Meeps. This should make chime collection and attacking noticeably more rewarding in Mayhem.

Garen champion portrait for ARAM Mayhem regeneration and shield buffs
Garen gains sustain and stronger defensive scaling.

Garen

  • Passive regeneration: Increased to 2%-12%.
  • W cooldown: 22-12 ⇒ 18-12 seconds.
  • W shield strength: 18% bonus Health ⇒ 20% bonus Health.
  • W passive stacks per minion kill: 0.4 ⇒ 0.75.

Garen becomes more durable as a frontline fighter. Better early W availability, stronger shielding, and faster passive stack growth should make it easier for him to survive repeated engagements.

K'Sante champion portrait for ARAM Mayhem W and E buffs
K'Sante receives additional durability in Mayhem.

K'Sante

  • W cooldown: 14-10 ⇒ 10 seconds.
  • W damage reduction: 30% ⇒ 45%.
  • E shield strength: 13.5% bonus Health ⇒ 15% bonus Health.

These changes are separate from K'Sante's Summoner's Rift nerf. In ARAM Mayhem, he gains more damage reduction and stronger shielding, emphasizing his role as a durable frontline champion.

Lee Sin champion portrait for ARAM Mayhem Attack Speed and damage buffs
Lee Sin gets stronger attacks, shields, and Q2 damage.

Lee Sin

  • Passive Attack Speed: 40% ⇒ 50%.
  • Passive Energy restoration: 20 / 30 / 40 ⇒ 30 / 40 / 50.
  • W shield: 60-240 ⇒ 80-320.
  • Q2 damage: 60-180 ⇒ 80-240.

Lee Sin receives improvements to almost every part of his short-range skirmishing pattern. The stronger passive and Energy restoration help him keep fighting, while W and Q2 provide better defensive and offensive payoffs.

Swain champion portrait for ARAM Mayhem damage taken and healing adjustments
Swain's overall Mayhem durability improves.

Swain

  • Damage taken: 105% ⇒ 100%.
  • Healing: 95% ⇒ 100%.
  • Soul Fragment restoration: 6% flat ⇒ 3%-6% scaling with level.

Swain takes less damage and receives full healing effectiveness, but his Soul Fragment restoration now scales up with levels rather than starting at its previous maximum. Overall, Riot is improving his ability to survive sustained Mayhem fights.

Thresh champion portrait for ARAM Mayhem soul collection and W cooldown buffs
Thresh collects more souls and casts W more often.

Thresh

  • Passive soul drop: 2 ⇒ 3.
  • W cooldown: 21 / 20 / 19 / 18 / 17 ⇒ 19 / 18 / 17 / 16 / 15 seconds.

Thresh gains more passive scaling through soul collection and gets access to Dark Passage more frequently. Both improvements support his utility-focused gameplay while letting him become tougher over time.

ARAM Mayhem Augment changes

Six Augments are adjusted in patch 26.20. Riot is increasing the strength of weaker effects and changing how certain mechanics trigger, with the biggest usability improvement going to Missile Split.

AugmentMain changeWhat it means
JuicedMana drain removed; higher damage-to-Mana ratioBetter damage potential without the previous Mana-drain drawback.
Leg DaySlow resistance 40% ⇒ 50%Improved mobility against slowing effects.
Missile SplitTriggers at the end of a missile or on recastMore predictable behavior for projectiles and recast abilities.
Shark TempestStronger slow and damageMore threatening area control.
Squishy Slappy GrabLower cooldown, higher damage and shieldsBetter offensive and defensive performance.
Triggered InfernoCooldown 15s ⇒ 5sCan trigger much more frequently.

Juiced

  • Mana drain: Removed.
  • Damage-to-Mana ratio: 4.5% ⇒ 7%.
  • New ranged modifier: 80% of the 7% value.

Juiced is easier to use now that its Mana-drain drawback has been removed. The higher ratio makes the Augment more rewarding, although ranged champions receive a reduced version of the new value.

Leg Day

  • Slow resistance: 40% ⇒ 50%.

The additional slow resistance helps champions maintain movement during crowded Mayhem fights, particularly when opponents rely on repeated slows instead of hard crowd control.

Missile Split

  • Split trigger: First unit hit ⇒ Missile reaching its end or being recast.

This is one of the most interesting quality-of-life changes in ARAM Mayhem. Missile Split previously activated as soon as a projectile hit its first unit, which could interfere with abilities designed to travel through multiple targets. The new behavior waits until the projectile ends or is recast, opening up cleaner interactions with certain spells.

Shark Tempest

  • Slow: 30% for 3 seconds ⇒ 40% for 3 seconds.
  • Base area damage: 50-100 ⇒ 100-200.
  • Attached damage over 3 seconds: 75-225 (+0.6 bonus AD) (+0.36 AP) ⇒ 90-270 (+0.75 bonus AD) (+0.45 AP).

Shark Tempest's base area damage doubles, its slow becomes stronger, and the attached damage gains better scaling. It should feel more impactful against grouped enemies and provide a more meaningful reason to choose it.

Squishy Slappy Grab

  • Cooldown: 35 ⇒ 30 seconds.
  • Damage: 30-100 (+10% bonus Health) ⇒ 50-150 (+15% bonus Health).
  • Shield per target: 35-150 (+50% bonus Armor) (+50% bonus Magic Resistance) ⇒ 50-200 (+50% bonus Armor) (+50% bonus Magic Resistance).

The Augment becomes both more threatening and more protective. Higher bonus Health damage is especially useful on tanks and bruisers, while stronger shields help those champions survive after engaging.

Triggered Inferno

  • Cooldown: 15 ⇒ 5 seconds.

Triggered Inferno now has one-third of its previous cooldown. Riot specifically wants the change to better deliver the aggressive, repeated-trigger fantasy associated with Samira and similar combat patterns.

ARAM Mayhem bug fixes

The patch also resolves interactions that could prevent certain Augments from working as intended:

  • Infernal Soul and Jeweled Gauntlet no longer incorrectly track damage dealt to minions.
  • King Me no longer persists in its slot after the quest is completed.
  • King Me correctly transforms into a functional Overloaded Augment.
  • Shark Bait no longer shows an empty buff bar.
  • Aurora's Q properly benefits from Skilled Sniper cooldown effects.
  • Shen's Echo Cast Shadow Dash correctly dashes after Flash or queued abilities.
  • Movement commands no longer incorrectly alter Echo Cast clone direction.
  • Lucian's W correctly splits with Spell Split when E is used during the spell cast.
  • Spell Split projectiles correctly split when summoner spells are cast during an ability's animation.
  • Champions can correctly queue abilities while casting a spell enhanced by Spell Split.
  • Prom Queen's cooldown icon no longer disappears after death.
  • Urgot's W projectiles no longer destroy Rite of Ascension's Soul.
  • Minion Mancer correctly amplifies Shaco's ultimate explosion and Ivern's ultimate knockup.
  • Ultra Hydra's quest and card icons now match.

Regular ARAM balance changes

Regular ARAM receives a smaller balance pass. Bel'Veth loses several beneficial mode modifiers, while Locke gets a meaningful outgoing-damage buff.

ChampionModifierPreviousNew
Bel'VethDamage dealt105%100%
Bel'VethDamage taken95%100%
Bel'VethTenacity20%0%
LockeDamage dealt105%115%

Bel'Veth now deals less damage, receives more damage, and loses her bonus Tenacity compared with the previous ARAM modifiers. She should be easier to shut down, especially when enemies have reliable crowd control.

Locke moves in the opposite direction, with damage dealt increasing by 10 percentage points. The change should improve his ability to contribute during frequent ARAM teamfights.

Ranked 5s and quality-of-life changes

League of Legends patch 26.20 also includes a Ranked 5s schedule update. The queue window has been extended from 4 PM-2 AM to 4 PM-4 AM server time, allowing coordinated teams to play for two additional hours.

Riot's general bug-fix list addresses a range of champion interactions, interface issues, and incorrect item behavior.

Gameplay bug fixes

  • Orianna: Fixed an issue where Command: Shockwave's visual effects and actual hitbox could become misaligned when her ball traveled toward a fast-moving ally such as Nocturne.
  • Sylas: Fixed a stolen Nautilus Depth Charge that could fail after Sylas lost vision of the target.
  • Xin Zhao: Three Talon Strike no longer incorrectly enters its full cooldown when the opening attack is dodged by abilities such as Shen's Shadow Dash or Jax's Counter Strike.
  • Shyvana: Dragon's Descent correctly cancels enemy teleports.
  • Kayle: Reckoning no longer incorrectly applies Spellblade effects from Sheen, Lich Bane, Trinity Force, and Iceborn Gauntlet.
  • Large melee champions: Fixed an interaction where champions could attack large enemies while remaining outside immolate range.
  • Sivir: Spell Shield correctly blocks Leona's Zenith Blade and Miss Fortune's Q damage.
  • Malphite: Flash is no longer incorrectly disabled after using Unstoppable Force.
  • Guinsoo's Rageblade: Rapidly pressing Recall no longer generates unintended stacks.
  • Runaan's Hurricane: Volley no longer incorrectly triggers minion calls for assistance.

Interface and cosmetic bug fixes

  • Rune page tabs no longer overflow the editor when players own more than 20 pages.
  • Misaligned champion overview tabs are corrected.
  • Classic spell and item icons correctly fill their square display areas.
  • Purchasing Royal Guard Fiora correctly grants the Royal Guard Classic Chroma.
  • Classic homepage images no longer load incorrectly when opening non-Classic tabs.
  • Ascending and descending release-date sorting work correctly in the Classic Collection.
  • Recommended Rune sorting and Rune release-date sorting work correctly in the Classic Store.
  • Xin Zhao's Imperial Classic Chroma now displays its proper name in Champion Select.
  • Sona's E description no longer incorrectly suggests that its effects only apply to champions.

These fixes are smaller than the headline balance adjustments, but they remove inconsistencies that can affect gameplay clarity. Keeping track of such changes is useful for anyone playing multiple League modes rather than focusing exclusively on Summoner's Rift.

HEARTSTEEL Live My Life Aphelios and Yone

What should you change after patch 26.20?

League of Legends patch 26.20 does not force every player to change champions or start using completely different builds. However, several adjustments are important enough to check before going into ranked games.

  1. Reconsider Hextech Rocketbelt purchases. The additional active damage is useful, but losing 10 Ability Haste can change your ability rotations and the value of your first or second item.
  2. Check ranged Experimental Hexplate builds. Ranged champions lose a substantial portion of the item's ultimate-triggered Attack Speed and Move Speed. Consider whether it still fits your champion's main power spike.
  3. Try the newly buffed champions. Kindred, Lillia, Lucian, Vayne, and Mordekaiser have clear improvements that could make previously difficult situations more manageable.
  4. Respect early-game weakness on nerfed champions. Cassiopeia starts with fewer resources, K'Sante spends more Mana, and Ashe and Yunara contribute less damage. Those changes may affect how aggressively you can trade.
  5. Review Smolder's item choices. His updated passive rewards critical-strike investment more heavily, while ultimate healing also benefits from bonus Attack Damage.
  6. Check any replay tools you use. Third-party replay download access is being removed, although reviewing your own matches in the League client remains supported.
  7. Learn the historical kits before entering League Classic. Original Aatrox, Irelia, Karma, and Quinn behave differently enough from their modern versions to require some practice.
  8. Experiment with Mayhem Augments. Missile Split's new activation mechanics and Triggered Inferno's shorter cooldown may open up combinations that previously felt unreliable.

Some of the biggest changes are easy to overlook because they involve an item interaction or a small statistical adjustment rather than an obvious champion redesign. Keep an eye on RiftDaily's League of Legends updates for subsequent hotfixes, balance adjustments, and changes made after the initial patch release.

Frequently asked questions about League of Legends patch 26.20

When did League of Legends patch 26.20 release?

League of Legends patch 26.20 was released on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Riot published the official patch notes on October 6, 2026. The seven featured skins were also scheduled to become available on October 7.

Is patch 26.20 the Worlds 2026 patch?

Yes. Patch 26.20 is the official Summoner's Rift balance patch for Worlds 2026. Riot specifically targeted reliable professional-play champions, including Ambessa, Ashe, K'Sante, and Yunara, while buffing several underperforming alternatives.

Which champions were buffed in LoL patch 26.20?

The 11 champions receiving buffs or predominantly positive adjustments are Diana, Kennen, Kindred, Lillia, Lucian, Mordekaiser, Neeko, Smolder, Swain, Tahm Kench, and Vayne. Swain's changes also include a reduction to base Armor.

Which champions were nerfed in League of Legends patch 26.20?

Ambessa, Ashe, Cassiopeia, K'Sante, and Yunara received nerfs on modern Summoner's Rift. League Classic also includes nerfs to Fiora, Graves, and Fizz, while Bel'Veth receives weaker modifiers in regular ARAM.

Was Hextech Rocketbelt nerfed in patch 26.20?

Hextech Rocketbelt received a mixed adjustment. Its Ability Haste was reduced from 20 to 10, but its active damage increased from 100 (+10% AP) to 135 (+15% AP). It now provides stronger immediate damage but less value for frequent spell casting.

Which champions joined League Classic in patch 26.20?

Aatrox, Caitlyn, Irelia, Karma, and Quinn joined League Classic. Each uses an earlier version of their abilities, including mechanics such as Aatrox's Blood Well resurrection, Irelia's Hiten Style, Karma's Spirit Bond, and Quinn's Tag Team transformation.

Can players still download League replays after patch 26.20?

Yes. Players can still download and review replays of matches they participated in through the League client. However, replay downloads for matches you did not participate in are no longer allowed, and third-party applications lose direct replay-download access.

What skins were released in League of Legends patch 26.20?

The seven skins are Prestige HEARTSTEEL Live My Life Sett, HEARTSTEEL Live My Life Ezreal, Kayn, Aphelios, Yone, and K'Sante, plus Prestige Classic Baron Kog'Maw. The update also introduces SKT T1 Elite chromas, two Prestige Vivid chromas, and color variants for the new HEARTSTEEL skins.

What to watch as the Worlds patch settles

League of Legends patch 26.20 is an important competitive update because it changes the strengths of established Worlds picks without completely rebuilding the game. Ambessa, Ashe, K'Sante, and Yunara lose some of their reliability, while Kindred, Lillia, Lucian, and other alternatives receive enough help to deserve a closer look.

The item adjustments could prove just as important as individual champion buffs. Hextech Rocketbelt's lower Ability Haste changes the trade-off between burst and repeated spell use, Experimental Hexplate becomes less attractive for ranged champions, and Runaan's Hurricane deals less damage to additional targets.

Outside the professional meta, five historical champions make League Classic worth revisiting. ARAM Mayhem's new Augment interactions, private replay restrictions, and HEARTSTEEL's latest cosmetics also make this a substantial update for players who spend time beyond standard ranked matches.
