KeSPA Cup 2026 has begun with LCK teams, bracket path and ₩50 million prize split

by Majbritt Dybdal Bjerre | Jul 22, 2026 | Esports, Featured, LCK, News

KeSPA Cup runs from July 20 to August 18. It features the 10 LCK organizations.

Nongshim RedForce are after the first two matchdays on top. They swept Day 1 before Hanwha Life Esports stopped them a day later. T1 has a 2-0 score. HLE have wins over Gen.G and Nongshim. Both Gen.G and Dplus Kia still need their first win.

This is not a regular LCK split matchday. Teams may use different mixes of main-roster players, substitutes and academy or Challengers players and can change them during the event.

What is the KeSPA Cup?

The KeSPA Cup is run by the League of Legends tournament. It sits outside the regular LCK split. It is still a title, though, and for the teams involved, another chance to show form against the rest of Korea’s top league. The 2026 event features the LCK organizations, but it should not be read as a standard LCK split matchday. Teams can use different roster mixes, including main-roster players, substitutes and academy or Challengers players.

This year’s edition is the tenth KeSPA Cup to feature League of Legends. It also comes at a tight point in the calendar, starting on July 20, just one day after League of Legends at EWC 2026 ended. That leaves little time to reset for any teams coming straight from international play.

How the KeSPA Cup bracket works

The opening stage is best of one, which is why the first two days have already changed the table quickly. There is no long series to correct a poor draft or a bad early game. One map decides the result.

The top four teams from each group will after the group stage move into Final Stage 1. Here the tournament slow down a little. There will be longer series replacing the opening best-of-ones.

Final Stage 2 is the best-of-five bracket. By then, the early volatility should matter less, and the stronger teams should have more room to prove it over a full series.

A quick turn from EWC 2026

The timing is tight for some of the biggest teams. League of Legends at EWC ended on July 19. KeSPA Cup started the next day. That gives teams such as T1, Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports and Dplus Kia very little time between events, although the KeSPA Cup roster mix can differ from a regular LCK matchday.

That does not make the KeSPA Cup a full measure of every team’s ceiling, especially this early. It does make the first week useful, though. Teams are dealing with short preparation time, possible roster experiments and a format where one best-of-one loss can make the standings look worse than the performance actually was.

T1 and Hanwha Life Esports have some recent KeSPA Cup history between them. T1 beat HLE in last year’s final, and both teams have already put wins on the board in 2026.

If T1 and Hanwha Life Esports meet again later in the bracket, last year’s final will be the obvious reference point. The early best-of-one games can be messy, but the tournament should give a cleaner read once teams are playing full series.

For now, Nongshim RedForce is on a first place with a 3-1 score. T1 are unbeaten at 2-0. Hanwha Life Esports have picked up two important wins. Gen.G are running out of room after a rough start.

The best-of-one stage can make a table look strange quickly, but it also leaves less time for excuses. July 27 should give a cleaner picture of who is actually in trouble and who is simply working through a rough opening week.
