The jungler gave an honest look at how G2 are adapting to Perkz as new headcoach, what the former star player is already bringing to the team, and why the transition is still a work in progress.
G2's victory over SK was an important regular-season result, yet SkewMond did not treat it as proof that everything is fixed. He said the team still made too many mistakes, while also pointing to Perkz's experience and in-game knowledge as something that can help G2 grow through the summer split.
Perkz as new headcoach gives G2 a different voice
The biggest part of SkewMond's RiftDaily interview came when the conversation turned to Perkz. Luka "Perkz" Perković is back with G2, this time as head coach. It gives the team a very different kind of voice behind the scenes, with one of Europe's most experienced former players now leading the project.
SkewMond was positive about the move, but also realistic. Perkz brings a lot, but G2 are still adjusting to him, and he is still adjusting to the job. He described Perkz as a coach with rare competitive experience, while also acknowledging that head coach is still a new role for him.
"I'm really looking forward to see what we can achieve with Perkz as a head coach. I think he brings a lot of knowledge in the game, obviously because he was a really successful player back in his time."

That player background, according to SkewMond, gives Perkz a direct understanding of pressure, game states, and details that not every coach can bring from personal experience.
"He has so much experience, so he knows a lot of situations and how the pressure works, all of these details that some coaches might not have."

At the same time, SkewMond said Perkz must keep learning the management side of the job. Drafting, communication, and guiding the team through difficult moments are now part of the challenge.
"For him it's also a new role, so he needs to learn and understand how to talk, how to manage rough situations, like in draft or 0-2 down, this kind of stuff. Obviously it's going to be a long way and adventure for us to master his head coach skills, but I'm for sure optimistic."

SkewMond praises Perkz for identifying G2's weaknesses
SkewMond said Perkz has already started to make an impact in two important areas: bringing new ideas to G2's gameplay and calling attention to weaknesses the team must fix.
"I think he's doing a great job at bringing some new knowledge in our gameplay and also bringing up some of our weaknesses that we should definitely work on, whether it's communication or small details in the game."

Drafting is still a shared process. SkewMond said the players need to help Perkz by giving clear input, especially as he takes on the responsibility of preparing drafts as head coach.
"When you take a new player and he has to do all of the drafts and stuff, it's definitely not easy. We as players need to help him on that regard because we need to give our input so he can have a better understanding of what we really want to play."

G2's form is still not where SkewMond wants it
Despite the SK win, SkewMond gave a blunt answer about G2's current form. The target remains to be the best team in Europe and win the LEC again, but he said the team is not yet playing at that level.
"Obviously our expectations, we want to be the best team in Europe and win it again. It's not going to be easy. I think our current form is not really good, to be honest."

That makes each regular-season win more valuable. SkewMond said G2's immediate focus is reaching playoffs, staying strong through the split, and making the necessary adjustments once the postseason arrives.
He also reflected on G2's loss to Karmine Corp, saying the series was still promising because G2 had chances to win, especially in the third game.
"The games were in our hands besides the first one. We could have closed the series pretty easily on many occasions in the third game, but we again made some bad decisions and we were not really playing together as we should have."

SkewMond also called Karmine Corp "probably the main contender" for the summer title, saying he would expect another final against them if G2 can regain its best form.
"I would pretty much expect a final against them. I'm not going to lie. I think they're pretty good compared to the other teams in general."

SkewMond says G2 were not clean despite 2-0 SK win
G2 got the win, but SkewMond was clear that the team still had issues to fix, especially when it came to communication and closing out leads.
G2's win over SK Gaming strengthened their regular-season position, but SkewMond was more focused on the mistakes than the result. He said the team had "a lot of weird moments" and expected the roster to review them closely before its next matches.
According to SkewMond, G2 had strong positions in both games but allowed SK back into the series through uncertainty and poor map decisions.
"We were actually in pretty good positions both games and pretty ahead, but we just ended up taking weird plays on the map and starting to lose our lead."

Still, he gave SK credit for staying in the games and creating comeback chances, while stressing that G2's own execution is the bigger concern.
What G2 did well against SK
SkewMond did not frame the SK series as entirely negative. The early games were one area he felt G2 could build from, especially compared with the team's opening week of the split.
"I think that our early games were decent at least, and compared to the ones we could have had in our first week, we had some stable early game plans in general."

He also pointed to the current meta as a reason why early planning matters. With supports able to move more freely around the map, G2's read on early-game setups was one of the team's better signs against SK.

Worlds qualification is the first step for G2
With the coaching staff changing and Perkz stepping into a larger role, SkewMond said G2 understands that the path may not be as straightforward as in previous splits.
"Since we made some changes in the coaching staff, making Worlds is probably the first step. Obviously, I really want to still win LEC and everybody in G2 included as well."

He expects G2 to remain "a bit slow" during the next regular-season matches, but the goal is to keep collecting wins, aim for a top-four position, and become the strongest team by the end of summer.
