G2 win LEC finals after intense five-game battle against KC

LEC finals champion G2 Esports beat Karmine Corp 3-2 on June 7, winning a five-game Spring Playoffs final and taking Europe’s top seed for MSI 2026.

Karmine Corp still qualify for MSI as the LEC’s second seed after pushing G2 to the final game. Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan was named Finals MVP after a standout series in the jungle, capped by a dominant Game 5 Nasus performance that helped G2 close the final under maximum pressure.

For Rasmus “Caps” Winther, the victory also added another milestone to one of the most decorated careers in Western League of Legends. The G2 mid laner has now won his 17th LEC and EU LCS title.

G2 finals win came after another five-game battle with KC

G2 and Karmine Corp needed all five games to settle the LEC finals, continuing a rivalry that has become one of Europe’s defining matchups.

KC opened the series with the sharper game, staying patient early before taking control through cleaner objective fights. Game-level statistics from Games of Legends showed KC’s carries leading the damage profile in the opener, with Caliste listed at 957 DPM and Kyeahoo at 871 DPM, while Yike finished 5/1/5 from the jungle.

G2 answered immediately in Game 2, building an early lead and snowballing it into a fast equalizer. KC then moved back ahead in Game 3, putting G2 one loss away from surrendering the trophy.

The defending champions refused to fold. G2 forced Silver Scrapes with a controlled Game 4, then turned Game 5 into SkewMond’s showcase. His Nasus jungle became the defining pick of the final, giving G2 a scaling front line, objective control, and enough threat to break KC’s last defense.

The full series highlights capture how quickly the final shifted from KC’s early control to G2’s closing surge.

G2’s win also continues their run as Europe’s most reliable trophy team, while KC leave the split with MSI qualification but without the first seed they were one game away from claiming.

SkewMond wins Finals MVP after decisive jungle performances

SkewMond’s Finals MVP award was built on consistency across the full best-of-five and a massive final game. He went deathless in three of the five games, according to the post-final broadcast and match reporting, and his Game 5 Nasus gave G2 one of the clearest win conditions of the entire series.

The pick looked risky on paper, especially in a final game against a KC lineup with Canna, Yike, Kyeahoo, Caliste, and Busio. In practice, it became the series breaker. SkewMond stacked freely, controlled fights around objectives, and turned from utility jungler into a late-game carry threat.

His award also underlines how much G2’s title identity has shifted. Caps still provided the veteran calm and playmaking, Hans Sama and Labrov gave the team stability in key fights, and BrokenBlade absorbed pressure across the series, but SkewMond was the player who turned the final into G2’s game.

Who is going to MSI 2026?

MSI 2026 will be played in Daejeon, South Korea, with 11 teams. The LEC, LCK, LCS, LCP, and LPL each send two teams, while CBLOL sends one.

As of June 8, several regional leagues still have remaining qualification matches, so not every MSI team is locked. G2, KC, Top Esports, Team Secret Whales, Deep Cross Gaming, and FURIA are among the confirmed teams so far.

Meet the G2 Esports roster

G2’s latest LEC title came from a lineup built around experience, flexibility, and a breakout Finals MVP performance. Caps adds a 17th LEC title to his record

Caps’ 17th LEC and EU LCS title is one of the biggest individual storylines from the final. The Danish mid laner has won championships with Fnatic and G2, and this latest trophy further separates him from the rest of Europe’s all-time greats.

His role in the final was not only about highlight plays. G2 needed steadiness after falling behind 2-1, and Caps remained central to how the team handled pressure, side-lane movement, and late-game setups. For more competitive coverage beyond League of Legends, visit RiftDaily’s esports hub.
