League of Legends Team Voice will launch in North America and Oceania with Patch 26.20 on October 7, 2026, expanding Riot Games' existing premade voice chat so eligible players can communicate with their entire team.
Riot is pairing the feature with Honor-based speaking restrictions, voice moderation, behavioral enforcement, improved noise cancellation, voice skins, and other technical upgrades. Players below Honor level 3 will be able to listen to Team Voice but will not be allowed to speak until they regain the required Honor level.
The September 8 Dev Update also revealed major changes for League Classic, ARAM: Mayhem, and Ranked 5s. Patch 26.18 arrives September 10 with five Demacian champions for Classic and the next Ranked 5s run, while Season 3 Act 2 begins with Patch 26.20 in October.
League of Legends Team Voice explained
Team Voice is an expansion of the voice chat League of Legends already offers to premade parties. Once the new system becomes available, players who did not queue together will be able to communicate by voice with the rest of their team during a match.
In practical terms, that gives a solo player the opportunity to coordinate directly with four teammates instead of relying exclusively on pings and text chat. Riot believes team-wide voice communication can improve coordination and the overall gameplay experience, particularly in a game where fights, rotations, objective calls, and defensive decisions can happen within seconds.
Riot is not treating the feature as a simple switch from party-only voice to unrestricted team chat. The company acknowledged that speaking with strangers online can create unpleasant experiences when disruptive behavior is involved, so access and regional expansion are being tied closely to moderation capabilities.

Honor level 3 is required to speak in Team Voice
The most significant restriction is behavioral. Riot says the ability to speak in Team Voice will be tied to a player's Honor level.
Anyone below Honor level 3 will lose access to speaking in Team Voice until they earn that level back. Importantly, those players will still be able to hear the rest of their team.
That distinction is intentional. Riot does not want a behavioral restriction on speaking to also prevent a player from hearing calls that could affect team coordination. A restricted player could therefore still hear teammates calling an objective, warning about an incoming fight, or coordinating a play, even though that player could not respond through voice.

Riot also plans to continue working on the broader Honor system, saying there is room to improve how accurately Honor reflects in-game behavior. Account, penalty, and Honor-related help is available through Riot Games Support.
Riot is adding moderation tools and voice skins
Team Voice will arrive with several technical and safety-focused improvements. Riot specifically highlighted better noise cancellation, faster connections, increased stability, and a wider behavioral assessment system intended to limit access for disruptive players.
Some of those improvements will also carry over to the existing voice system used by premade parties, meaning the work is not limited to the new team-wide channel.
Riot is also introducing voice skins. These allow players to modify how their voice sounds while using voice chat. According to the official League of Legends Dev Update, current and future voice skins are being designed so speech remains clear and understandable, including during hectic teamfights.
The feature adds a cosmetic-style layer to voice communication, but Riot's emphasis on intelligibility suggests voice skins are not intended to obscure calls or make teammates difficult to understand.
Why Team Voice is launching in only two regions first
Team Voice will not launch globally with Patch 26.20. Riot is beginning with North America and Oceania and says voice moderation must be able to scale with the number of people speaking before the system reaches additional servers.
The company says it will only expand into languages and regions where it is confident that moderation and enforcement can be properly supported. If the NA and Oceania rollout performs as hoped, Korea, Latin America, and Brazil are expected to be considered afterward.
There is currently no confirmed Team Voice release date for Europe or other regions beyond the initial rollout. Further expansion will depend on how the system performs rather than following a publicly announced global schedule.
For players outside NA and Oceania, that means Patch 26.20 should not be treated as a worldwide Team Voice launch. Riot is explicitly taking a staged approach.
Patch 26.20 is scheduled for October 7
Riot's official 2026 patch schedule lists Patch 26.20 for October 7. It will also mark the beginning of Season 3 Act 2, which Riot says will put a special spotlight on music.
The first music-related reveal is scheduled immediately after the Dev Update, with more of the theme set to carry into content such as the next ARAM: Mayhem set.
Team Voice is therefore only one part of a wider sequence of League changes arriving across September and October. RiftDaily will track the releases through its League of Legends news coverage.
Pabro and Meddler discussed Team Voice, League Classic, Mayhem, and Ranked 5s in Riot's full Dev Update.
Beyond voice chat, the update contains several changes arriving sooner. Patch 26.18 is scheduled for September 10, one day after Riot's latest announcement.
League Classic gets five Demacian champions in Patch 26.18
League Classic is expanding its champion pool again. Poppy, Xin Zhao, Shyvana, Galio, and Fiora are joining in Patch 26.18 as part of what Riot calls Demacia Re-Rising.
They follow Akali, Kennen, and Shen, the three Ionian ninjas Riot recently added to Classic. The company says champion availability has been one of the clearest requests from the Classic community, and more additions are already planned.
Graves will be next. Riot confirmed that he will join Classic alongside three other Bilgewater champions in the patch after Demacia Re-Rising. The identities of those other three champions were not revealed in the Dev Update.

Classic progression is becoming faster
Champion additions are not the only response to Classic feedback. Riot has also increased IP and XP earnings after complaints that Rune unlock progression was taking too long.
Every player has received two additional Rune Pages, while Riot has added a second win-of-the-day bonus and reduced the prices of many Runes.
The changes are aimed at reducing the amount of time required to build out Rune options in a mode intentionally based around an older version of League's progression and gameplay systems.
Classic visuals and matchmaking are also being adjusted
Riot says it has made multiple bug fixes and matchmaking improvements and intends to continue investing in the matchmaking system.
The Classic map has also received brighter lighting and revised textures. Those visual changes are intended to better capture the feel Riot is targeting for the mode rather than simply reproducing every aspect of modern Summoner's Rift presentation.
The first Classic Council vote has now concluded as well, with Riot saying its results will be published separately. Future Council votes are expected to appear alongside upcoming patch information. RiftDaily's League of Legends patch notes coverage will follow those changes as they reach the live game.
ARAM: Mayhem is getting a music-themed set
ARAM: Mayhem is also returning with a new set built around Season 3 Act 2's music theme. Riot says a musical act will take center stage when players spawn, introducing another source of match-to-match variety similar in concept to Arena's Guests of Honor.
The announced acts include familiar League virtual music groups as well as game-specific themes such as Arcade, Cafe Cuties, and the Bees.
Riot's video says the next Mayhem set will go live later in the following month. The written TL;DW currently displays an incomplete or inconsistent patch number for the set, so an exact patch number should not be considered confirmed from that summary alone.
New Mayhem missions reward different playstyles
The next set introduces in-game missions designed to encourage players to experiment with different builds and approaches during a match.
Riot gave examples such as repeatedly hitting enemy champions from long range or dealing large amounts of damage through an ultimate. These objectives are tracked over the course of a game rather than functioning as simple one-off actions.
The missions will have their own rewards outside the normal Mayhem progression track, giving players another set of objectives to complete while playing the mode.
Beeees!!! and Get Jinxed are among the new Augments
New Augments are arriving with the Mayhem set as well. Riot highlighted two during the update.
An Augment called “Beeees!!!” allows players to throw beehives at enemies. Get Jinxed takes a more spectacular approach, letting a player ride on one of Jinx's rockets.
Riot did not reveal the complete Augment list, leaving additional additions to be detailed closer to release.
Ranked 5s returns in Patch 26.18 with strategic drafting
Ranked 5s is getting another run beginning with Patch 26.18 after Riot's initial experiment ran from June through September.
The second run will continue through December and includes changes based on feedback and participation during the first period. Riot says turnout was strong enough to give the team confidence to expand the times when the queue is available.
Teams will see opponent information before drafting
The headline competitive change is a new strategic draft phase inspired in part by Clash.
As soon as Champion Select begins, players will be able to see the opposing team's names along with information about the champions those opponents play most frequently in Ranked.
That information can influence both picks and bans. Instead of using bans without knowing who is on the opposing team, a five-player squad can identify comfort champions, protect its own draft plan, or target an opponent's established Ranked picks.
For organized teams, that should make Champion Select more closely resemble tournament preparation than the first Ranked 5s run did.
Ranked 5s queue hours are getting longer
Riot initially kept Ranked 5s available during relatively narrow periods to protect queue times and match quality. Participation during the first run has given the company enough confidence to widen that window.
During the new run, Ranked 5s will open earlier on Fridays and remain available later on Sunday night. Depending on the region, the closing time can extend into very early Monday morning.
First-run Ranked 5s rewards arrive with Patch 26.18
Players who took part in the original Ranked 5s run will receive their rewards in Patch 26.18. These include a banner and an icon corresponding to the highest rank they achieved in the queue.
The September-to-December run provides another opportunity to earn the Ranked 5s banner and icon, plus a new exclusive emote.
More live-system announcements can be followed through RiftDaily's League of Legends updates.
League Partner Program applications are open
Riot also confirmed that applications for the League Partner Program are open again. The program is aimed at League content creators, with Riot directing interested applicants to watch its social channels for the application link.
No additional eligibility or selection changes were detailed during this Dev Update.
Worlds 2026 starts October 15 in Los Angeles

Worlds 2026 is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles on October 15. The tournament will conclude with the World Championship Final in Brooklyn, New York, on November 14.
That puts the start of Worlds just over a week after Patch 26.20 and the initial Team Voice rollout in North America and Oceania.

What happens next for League Team Voice and Season 3 Act 2
The first real test for Team Voice begins October 7. Riot is giving League players access to a communication tool that could make solo-queue coordination significantly faster, but the company is also making behavior a condition for participating in the conversation.
North America and Oceania will effectively serve as the first large-scale test of whether Riot's Honor requirements, moderation systems, voice technology, and behavioral enforcement can support full-team communication. A successful rollout could clear the way for Korea, Latin America, Brazil, and eventually additional League regions, although no timetable has been announced.
Before Team Voice arrives, Patch 26.18 on September 10 will expand League Classic and restart Ranked 5s. Season 3 Act 2 and Patch 26.20 then follow on October 7, shortly before Worlds begins in Los Angeles on October 15.
RiftDaily will continue tracking the rollout through its League news, game updates, and patch notes coverage as Riot confirms more regions and release details.
